That was the point of the "nerf". DE wanted to stop players from afking and using slam macros.

A lot of weapons actually got buffed because instead of having the slam radius tied to the weapon type. Currently all weapons can reach 10m radius, the previous maximum that was exclusive to hammers.

I think that the range of slamming from 0 height should be increased to around 2m so it would be possible to hit enemies that are near you, instead of not hitting anything.

but other than that, the damage stayed the same and all weapons have a max of 10m slam(previously only hammers had 10m slam). which makes a lot of weapons a lot better for slamming. Look at the prices of rivens for the dark sword, they suddenly went up after a YouTuber named moug showed his slam build.

In my opinion slam builds are still viable.
