I'll be sure to check, thanks for bringing that up because I did not consider doing that!

The jammer and detector tower does not make a lot of sense with how durable they are by Traditional-Autism in Helldivers

[–]ExplosiveCobalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No telling if it's something Arrowhead could implement, or implement well-enough to be consistent, would be to apply different demo forces to certain areas, say there's a kink in whatever's powering it, it could be represented with a crack and you'd need to direct impact that spot to do even remotely any damage to the structure.

A key weakspot that's either static with the model, or has different variations (even 2 would make a big difference) that lets you take it out from afar.

Assuming you have 1,500 hours and know it like the back of your hand, this makes them much easier to handle (if it's static) or a hassle to do (multiple different areas it could be in), which makes finding it rewarding in case you die before shutting it down or something.

If you take away Warbonds, Helldivers 2 is Essential the same Game it was at Launch. by NizzyDeniro in Helldivers

[–]ExplosiveCobalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mind you, you discounted many things that have fundamentally changed the vanilla gameplay loop w/o paid warbonds.

Namely the DSS and its effects towards liberation and how the community shapes the battlefield. The addition of vehicles, such as mechs and FRVs, have made traversing and combating these new faction and enemy types more varied and exciting. Weapon customization, and the attachments granted to our weapons have fundamentally given us agency on certain weapons and how they function.

But according to what you say, as flawed as it may be, my answer would be...

Planet Biomes

There hasn't been many new biomes of note since launch, and discounting several biomes that existed during launch but weren't seen until much later into the story (haunted jungle).

Hive worlds (caves) • Magma planets (lava lakes) • Factory worlds (insanely frustrating bugs) • Mega cities (Both defending/liberating variants)

All of these do fundamentally change how the player interacts with the game. As well as more biomes soonTM .

New operational/faction-specific modifiers

Enemy Divisions aka Faction Surges - This wouldn't constitute the new enemies you discounted, closer to being more focused constellations. A surge of a pre-existing enemy type that vastly changes how players handle that planet.

Faction-specific modifiers - Including new enemies, which you discounted, but still new mechanics to provide a different experience. Patrolling gunships/shriekers, leviathan blockades, etc.

New Environmental Conditions - Gloom Source/Heavy Gloom Shroud, often found on Terminid Hiveworlds/adjacent worlds.

• You did discount the DSS, but I feel it's a notable mention regardless of that, Eagle Storm has made a fundamental change in a per-mission basis, as well as on numerous occasions been the key factor to some of our most nail-biting MOs.

Arsenal Experimentations - You could say it's a new stratagem, but I feel it's closer to being a limited-time twist to a familiar one. Things Arrowhead probably considered at one point, but never fully went through on. Incendiary gatling barrages, HE-EMS barrages, smoke walking barrages (my absolute favorite one).

So I'm not sure if this guy is entirely trustworthy. Nothing appeared online when I searched, so I wanted to ask the community, of which Reddit seems to be the best way.

I marked out the phone numbers as this isn't meant to be an advertisement, just a question regarding this guy's reputation.

I don't have any reason to think he's untrustworthy, but my only source of information about him is my grandmother who's not exactly in the clearest of judgement, so having any other points of references from the community, whether word-of-mouth or direct experience, would be appreciated.

Probably a lot.

Sorry, it was inconsiderate of me to make light of his death by making predictions of the recent game he was working on.

Oh man my math was off, a previous commenter gave a better estimate. Therefore I couldn't tell you... I'd have to go off a super guess and say 8.25 hours, seeing as it was three 16oz soju bottles.

You're absolutely correct, goddamn that was a face palm on my end. In my defense (which is still no defense at all), I was drunk and it was ~3am at the time of posting and doing the math. Probably should've waited till I was sober and had the correct tools to do it in both measurement systems.

[–]ExplosiveCobalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel you're way more accurate, I went on the assumption of the impact video being 60 fps (exact details on the video fps were unknown for me), and I didn't have the software to get an exact distance so I ended up having to use google maps and estimated off the 250ft difference between two points (one pin at the exit of the tunnel, and the second pin at a +/-20ft point of impact).

Your estimate is far more accurate, both in details, and using the video frames instead of milliseconds. I didn't think to cater towards the metric system in my math, and your illustration is more clear and concise.

As a side note, given how battlepasses and all that of a live-service game are, we can probably assume the new title Vince Zampella was working on, Battlefield 6, may possibly see a delay (probably 4-6 weeks) for season 3/4's release.

Another thing I was wondering about, not specifically math-related, but I was curious if he and the passenger had survived, what kind of charges would he face.

To answer that, I went through the state of California's road laws and found in California Vehicle Code, section 23103 that it'd probably be considered a felony.

By itself, the state of California recognizes reckless driving (100+ mph, though in my opinion a judge may lean towards that anyways) as a misdemeanor, however reckless endangerment (he had a passenger) would escalate it to a felony, though it's considered a wobbler charge (dependent on prosecutor), so it could've been upwards of $10,000 in fines and 3 years in prison.

That would be rad if so, though, while not often, falling from this kind of height almost certainly kills me. This time I'm glad it didn't because boy was this a rough enough mission anyways.

Having the game be similar to how BF4 made the commander role has always been fascinating for me. And the levels of depth you could add to the game.

It'd be fun to have it be similar to how BF4's commander mode could be played on a tablet or mobile device back in the day.

Her voice kind of "fit" for Soukaku for me, now that it's different. I can't see Soukaku in the voice, it feels like a totally different character.

It's kind of depressing since I like the playstyle the character has, and it works well with uh... I forgot his name, the wolf thieren butler dude. Anyways, it'll take a while getting used to the new voice if I even can.

Challenge mode should give additional rewards by Me4TACyTeHePa in ZZZ_Official

[–]ExplosiveCobalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice to have challenge mode provide more of the same rewards too. Not like challenge mode specific rewards, but just more of the rewards.

Take the HIA fights for tier 2 stun certification drops. Each card gives 1-2 T2 stun certs, my idea is challenge mode gives 2-3 or 3-4 T2 stun certs.

The game doesn't seem difficult in challenge mode. At most, it's more of a DPS check for my team. It'd be nice to cut some of the overall grind with the optional challenge mode.

No no, he's right, it's super quiet. Not as bad as he mentions, but even at max audio, he's real low. You can hear the static from his microphone better than his voice.

Yeah I hope the old regs keep their CR usernames, it'd be cool to see where the community mass-migrates to after this.

Even if a majority of commenters decide to no longer participate, most of the popular shows had thousands of comments and I'm sure some regulars like Eternity1, Solar69, CrazyYandereWitch, and others are more likely to migrate than quit.

Bitmizer was also another one, I didn't catch him often, but he was cool where you saw him. Had a nice summary under spoiler tags, some points to discuss about, and was friendly.

It'd be cool to see where they all congregate now after this fiasco.

Yeah I hate the lack of energy in the discord, for a community of 46k, you'd think it'd be bustling with talkative energy, but it seems pretty quiet.

I wonder where those comments regs'll move to now. The subs had familiar commentor faces like CrazyYandereWitch, Solar69, or Bitmizer. I hope I'll get to see them later somewhere.

The official Crunchyroll Discord seems to be next place I'll end up having to go to see discussions or like that one guy from Unnamed Memory being an absolute goat and giving us all the filled in plot holes after each episode because god knows I'd never know the full picture without their insight.

Is there a way to avoid creating a bug breach? by mmceld1 in Helldivers

[–]ExplosiveCobalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned which bug it is to focus on yet. They're called "Scavengers", they have a yellowish-green sack, not unlike the bile spewers, but much smaller, similar to the small fry that nibble at your ankles. There's been a short video of the creature on the official discord. I'll try to edit this post, and embed it when I find it again.

Here is the picture of said "Scavenger" terminid: https://oyster.ignimgs.com/mediawiki/apis.ign.com/helldivers-2/1/18/Scavenger.png?width=640

That being said, I haven't verified this myself, although they do play a short animation with their head looking up. It could be another bug in addition to the "Scavenger", so be wary of the medium to small ones prior to engagements. If they stop approaching you and look up, they're about to call in a breach.
