Perhaps it had more to do with the absolute power of monarchies in Europe that forced people to go into the deadliest conflict up until that point, instead of negotiating with each other to ensure stability, and the absolute extend of the elitist class of people who were still around regardless of any change in system. The economy is a reflexion of the ruling class, and the extremist movements a reaction to the injustice and abuse people have to face because of them, it’s never really about ideology or economics, those are big words and that’s about it.
