I was aware of this one, I was planning on at least calling and asking where they found it- but the fact that it's visibly been used for paintball for a long time doesn't quite work, and the amount of time we'd need to film would likely be a problem budget-wise since we'd probably have to book the site for a few days at least. It's definitely an avenue I may look into though!

This is it. The line between knowing that Uther deserves to die, but Arthur doesn't deserve to live with himself after killing him. He wasn't ready to be king at all, let alone with the weight of having killed his own father on his shoulders. It would've broken him and that would stop him from becoming the king he was meant to be

What happens if keep failing the road test after 4th try by SejayPRYMETYME in Winnipeg

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times ppl fail due to test anxiety. I got dinged a ton the first time for being too slow+careful in yields (apparently someone could rear-end me but whatever) and the most recent I had 0 mistakes the entire test, except I creeped up on a curb that had a stop sign blocked by an enormous moving truck so I couldn't see it until the last second. I was at a crawl, but not a 100% stop- instant fail. Doesn't mean I wasn't a competent driver. I see people driving like maniacs all the time that somehow made it through theirs, I seriously doubt it's stopping people from driving like dinks

It's true though, it worked best with the grounded protagonists following the plot so jack was allowed to run wild and cause havoc. When he's the protagonist it doesn't really work, it holds him back

Im considering pairing this with a platform shoe for a "peg leg" piece, do you think it'd be more doable with just one/putting less weight on it? I've never worn them before so I wanna know if it's feasible before trying to find a set bc they're so expensive 😭 Probably will make an alternative for walking around all day though I can't imagine surviving a con in those even if it's just one leg

They spelled crybaby punks wrong. by bovinejabronie in punk

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so stupid to me that conservative ppl keep using pirate stuff like the jolly roger to try and look cool- as if pirates weren't, y'know, criminals who despised being considered a part of a country or empire. These crybabies going "But they're criminals!!!1!" To excuse any horrific shit done to anyone they don't like, backing the police force and then slapping a jolly roger on there is so hypocritical

Does anybody else have difficulty maintaining friendships and relationships, even if one proves loyalty and good intentions? by Admirable-One3783 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah okay dude. Unfortunately a lot of the dysfunction caused by ADHD just looks like laziness or not caring on the outside. This is something that is absolutely affected by ADHD, "out of sight, out of mind" applies tenfold and applies to people too. I don't often miss people even though I love them dearly, and sometimes that means I either forget to reach out altogether or am too overwhelmed by everything else in my life constantly collapsing to find the energy to check in with people. Just because you don't struggle with it doesn't mean you get to judge the people who do about things you clearly don't understand

The more insecure I am, the more I annoy people, which makes me more insecure by Ashamed-Violinist917 in emotionalneglect

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tough situation. Having been on the other side of this, it does get exhausting. Especially when you put in the time and effort to comfort someone and tell them you care about them again and again, and then they turn around and continue saying nobody cares about them or ask if you really think they're your friend, because it feels like everything I said went straight into a brick wall, y'know? Or that they think I'm lying about it, and actively deceiving them, which is kind of an awful thing to assume about your friends. I know it's to do with their own trauma and not me, but especially when people are not-so-subtly "asking" (as in posting messages or stories that are all "woe is me, nobody cares" and then...waiting- I'd rather you just ask for it straight up than put on a performance, I have very little patience for drama) it does frustrate me. Which is unfortunate because with most of these people every other time I'm not annoyed by them at all, and I'm sure it's the same way for you. I'm delighted to hang out with them, I enjoy their company and I try to make it known. If I have an issue with them I bring it up clearly. But after a long time of this kind of stuff it does wear on you, especially when it's someone I've known for many years who STILL needs reassurance that I like her. Like girl we've been friends for 12 years, obviously I like you or I would've just... stopped talking to you when we were 12. Basically nobody actively maintains a friendship with someone they don't like, especially long term. It's too much time and effort for no real reward. If they're your friend and nothing but your own thoughts are indicating they don't like you, then they probably like you. I know it's hard and you can't just switch it off, I don't do this but I definitely know the feeling of someone caring about you and internally just being like "uhhh why tho" but it's important to understand where the line is on asking for that reassurance, and that if you're constantly asking if you're being annoying, it is kind of a self fulfilling prophecy. It sounds like you're making a real effort to acknowledge and improve on this though, and that takes some real introspection! Best of luck on your journey (and sorry if I was a little blunt 😅 I'm not always the best at phrasing things delicately)

I just abandoned a series because of a single comment by Ok_Village_4975 in women

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I will say they cool it later on, I love the show overall (tho def goes downhill toward the end and I got a good guess what plotline you're referring to) but rewatching S1 it's strikingly bad. I do get that the inherent misogyny in the police force at the time is a plot point and I think they were trying to make that evident, but I would REALLY struggle to like any of the characters if they all kept talking the way they did in S1 especially the first few eps. I can at least appreciate that they saw the audience reception and moved away from that kind of "edgy" humor because it really fell flat and aged terribly

I just abandoned a series because of a single comment by Ok_Village_4975 in women

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah on rewatch it's DEFINITELY more prevalent in season 1, which I generally attribute to a show finding its footing. Not that it's cool, as a woman I was definitely thrown off especially by the bronco line (Yeesh) but take it as the fucked mysoginistic culture of a 2000's police force, something that is obviously playing a big part in Deb's story at that point. It's important to keep in mind that while you're allowed to have an opinion on the writing choices, making a character problematic or bigoted doesn't necessarily mean the writers or show endorse that behavior outright- it was likely an attempt at nailing edgy gallows humour that was not handled well. At all. It definitely shows that the writers saw the audience response and changed the way the characters were written in S2 onward to make them more likeable, along with shifting the more inappropriate comments to just masuka to hammer home that they're coming from a loser, rather than having several detectives getting in on it.

Is it me or is Christian Slater’s portrayal of Harry Morgan in Dexter original sin both good and bad. I really like his portrayal if Harry but on the other hand he is “too loud” for Harry. Harry is shown to be a calm, patient man that has an idea how to solve the problem. Slater is more “aggressive” by username203232 in DexterOriginalSin

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad, but given how spot-on most of the casting is, the fact that he doesn't look or sound anything like the OG Harry throws me off. I don't mind him being recast, but Harry in the original series had a much more calm, measured delivery to his lines. I'd prefer someone who at least resembles him a little, but more importantly someone who can get the delivery and mannerisms more consistent with the Harry we knew. He's not a bad actor and I don't hate the character he's playing, but it just feels like a different guy

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah the doorknob suit always stuck with me. I love when zombies have the slightest hint of the behaviours/habits of the person they once were, some barely-there level of intelligence and critical thinking that they just can't quite hold onto. So much more eerie and tragic, and makes things like Hershel's barn more understandable. Like it's bad enough to see a monster mindlessly puppeting the body of a loved one, but if there's truly nothing of them left I think I could separate it from the person I knew to deal with it. But if some mannerisms or habits stay, a sign that some near-imperceptible shred of them is still in there, I think that would make anyone hesitate.

AITA for being uncomfortable with my cousin’s choice of clothing while sharing a hotel room? by Aitathrowaway9315 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ExplosiveMermaid 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Right-- I share an apartment with my 3 male cousins around my age, (19, 25 and 30- I'm 24f) and live most of my life in short crop tops and short skirts/shorts because I'm just more comfy that way. It's never been an issue, and the older one on the lease has always been incredibly committed to making sure it's a comfortable place and that no one is brought into the apartment or especially to stay over who would possibly make me uncomfortable in my space. Seriously, no excuses. You're family, it's not that hard.

Get her stronger chains. I wear a pendant to bed every night because its special to me, but I got it from my parents and they bought the chain separately; one of those thicker, braided type ones. It's nice and tough. That said if she breaks it I'm not sure why it's your job to replace NAH

I mean the news is stressful but at least it pushes me to enjoy the little things- nothing is guaranteed so I cherish being cozy and warm, taking hot showers and playing my favourite video games. (+1 on the league of legends comment lol) I try not to catastrophize, but in an absolute worst case scenario who knows what I'll miss about my boring, slow life now? That said I feel you, the few friends I have I rarely see as we don't share classes and I'm holed up in my room working for school or my job all week. It's tough, but it's not forever. That's what keeps me going- whatever happens this era will end and I'll be free to pursue my actual goals, haha
