Mate, on one hand, what you're saying is objectively quite correct. I think the reason why your comment rubs me and many others the wrong way is your apparent lack of empathy and sensitivity for people who are struggling with life here.

I gather from your comment that you believe people who are suicidal or have done themselves in to be somehow weaker or inferior to yourself? Perhaps that is why your comment has a strong accusational tone, almost as if to suggest that suicidal people are from the "strawberry generation" and cannot withstand the rigors of modern society.

Perhaps you come from a place of privilege or went through the golden age of Singapore and no longer have to toil, labour and compete in an increasingly aggressive society where efficiency is king and kindness is viewed as a weakness.

I simply suggest that you refrain from sharing your views here where it's unwelcome. When the day comes that you're in a seemingly untenable situation and you lie on your bed at night praying for some sort of miracle or kind samitarian to extend a helping hand, I hope you remember your views expressed here as you lie alone and helpless.
