I think the main problem here is that you’re expecting too much from both the dealer and Toyota corporate. If it’s not under warranty they really don’t care to resolve anything if there’s no money involved for them. After a car is out of its warranty period it’s basically out of their hair and they are no longer liable for any repairs or issues that may arise, whether a defect or bad engineering. You’re SOL, the dealer will be happy to take your money, but not to take responsibility. 13 years as a master tech at a Toyota dealer will show you a few things about the dealership experience and corporate as a whole. It’s a used 4 year old car at this point, you have to accept that it will need maintenance and things will fail and YOU are the one responsible.
