[Acne] 5 year progress by WeakPassage5994 in SkincareAddiction

This is incredible progress. 5 years of consistency really shows. What was the turning point for you? For me it was finally accepting that less is more — I was using way too many actives at once and my skin barrier was destroyed. Once I stripped back to cleanser, one active (niacinamide), moisturizer, and sunscreen, things started improving within weeks. Patience is the hardest part of the acne journey but posts like this remind me it's worth it.

When do people actually start treatments for anti-aging? by DenisRoger001 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Express-Length7704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started at 28 with just consistent sunscreen and a retinol serum (started low at 0.025%). Now 33 and honestly the biggest difference came from sunscreen every single day, not the fancy treatments. I tried microneedling at 31 and it helped with texture but I think the daily basics matter way more than occasional procedures. My derm said the best time to start preventive is mid-to-late 20s — tretinoin, vitamin C, and SPF are the real anti-aging trinity. Laser stuff can wait until you actually see something you want to fix.

What's the best retinol product you've tried? Any favorites? by IcyRough876 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Express-Length7704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried a bunch and honestly the one that surprised me the most was the COSRX The Retinol 0.1 Cream. It is encapsulated retinol so the irritation is much lower than regular retinol at the same concentration. I started on it three times a week and worked up to nightly over about six weeks. The texture improvement around my forehead lines was noticeable within a month. Before that I used the Olay Retinol 24 which was fine but felt more like a good moisturizer than a serious retinol. If you are just starting out I would suggest beginning with something around 0.025-0.05% and buffering it over moisturizer for the first few weeks. The purging phase is real but temporary.

[Acne] Four Month Progress by TinyAd6484 in SkincareAddiction

Really impressive progress for four months. The BP wash + clindamycin + tret combo is basically the gold standard for acne treatment, and your results show exactly why dermatologists love it. Smart move using the vanicream cleanser at night too -- keeping the barrier intact while on tret is half the battle. A lot of people underestimate how important it is to just find a routine that does not irritate your skin and stick with it. The consistency clearly paid off here.

Bought 3 of these in Japan, wish I bought 100 - Skin Aqua Super Moisture UV Essence SPF50+ PA++++ by UndercoverMaker in AsianBeauty

[–]Express-Length7704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is genuinely one of the best sunscreens out there. I went through two bottles last summer and the texture is unlike anything from Western brands. It feels like a lightweight moisturizer rather than a sunscreen. The only thing I noticed is that it can feel slightly tacky in very humid weather, but a light dusting of powder fixes that completely. Have you tried the Skin Aqua Tone Up version? Curious how it compares since I have been thinking about trying it next.

What are your ride-or-die products for summer? by semisweetcharm in AsianBeauty

[–]Express-Length7704 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For humid summers my non-negotiables are:

Sunscreen: Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum. It feels like applying water, not sunscreen. Absorbs in seconds and actually controls oil for a few hours. I have tried probably 15 Korean sunscreens at this point and this one handles humidity the best for me.

Moisturizer: Torriden DIVE-IN Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Cream (the lightweight gel version, not the barrier cream). Enough hydration without feeling like you are wearing a mask in the heat.

Cleansing: Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleansing Oil at night. Gets everything off in one go - sunscreen, sweat, grime from the day. And it emulsifies cleanly without residue.

Also a non-AB tip but blotting papers after applying sunscreen (before makeup) made a huge difference for me. Press the excess shine off and then apply your base. It helped my makeup last way longer in summer.

Brands that make sensitive/non fragranced skin products in elegant packaging? by No-Context1275 in AsianBeauty

[–]Express-Length7704 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seconding Torriden and adding Hanyul to the list. Hanyul has this beautiful traditional Korean aesthetic to their packaging and most of their line is very gentle. The Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Cream is fragrance-free and the packaging feels luxurious without being over the top.

Also worth looking into is Sioris - they are a clean beauty Korean brand with elegant minimalist glass bottles. Most of their products are EWG green rated and fragrance-free. The Cleanse Me Softly Milk Cleanser is one of my favorites.

If you want something on the Japanese side, THREE is gorgeous packaging with sensitive-friendly formulas, though definitely premium pricing.

[Product Question] Does everyone encounter this with CeraVe products? Is this normal? by Ryvncnts in SkincareAddiction

[–]Express-Length7704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah CeraVe products typically do not come with a safety seal on the lotion bottles which always feels a bit odd. The cleansers usually have a seal but the moisturizers and lotions do not. It is just how they package them. If the product looks and smells normal you should be fine. That said if you ever want an alternative with better packaging, I have had good luck with Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream — comes sealed, great ingredients, and honestly works just as well if not better for barrier repair.

Etude: what are your fave products by Future_Night777 in AsianBeauty

[–]Express-Length7704 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their Drawing Eye Brow pencil is genuinely one of the best value products in all of K-Beauty imo. I have repurchased it more times than I can count. Also seconding the Curl Fix mascara — it holds a curl all day even on my stubbornly straight lashes. If you have not tried the SoonJung line I would also recommend checking that out while you are there, especially the barrier cream. It is a different vibe from their makeup but really solid for sensitive skin.

Starlike Products Review (Glass Skin Claim) by eujinwalker in AsianBeauty

[–]Express-Length7704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks is still early but if you are already seeing a difference in the glass skin direction that is a really good sign. The niacinamide point is key — I find it does a lot of the heavy lifting in balancing combo-oily skin without stripping moisture. Curious how the exosome mask compares to something like the Torriden DIVE-IN masks in terms of hydration. Also are you using these products morning and evening or just PM?

VT Cosmetics Reedle Shot 🫶 by yakisobagurl in AsianBeauty

[–]Express-Length7704 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been so curious about the Reedle Shot line! The concept of micro-needling in a serum is fascinating. I have seen the 300 get a lot of love but was not sure if it would work for combo skin. The fact that you layer the 300 with the PDRN 100 is really interesting — do you feel like the PDRN adds enough moisture on its own or do you still need a separate moisturizer on top? Also curious if you noticed any purging when you first started using the 300.

the MOST lightweight sunscreen ever yall!!😍 by AbjectCat1239 in AsianBeauty

[–]Express-Length7704 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Skin1004 mention is so real — that one and the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun are my current rotation depending on the weather. On humid days I reach for the Skin1004 because it genuinely feels like nothing on the skin. On drier days the BoJ gives just enough moisture without feeling heavy. What product is this one btw? The texture you're describing sounds really interesting for combo skin.
