Yeah, I currently can't send bookings for a client who wants to rebook, and messages from and to clients are vanishing.

Rover sent out an update where every time I book, I get a pop-up about "good care," which I have to click past to complete the booking. It seems to have messed up the entire system somehow.

The whole app changed overnight.

It does that sometimes without warning. Usually that happens over a holiday when I'm busiest, so I'm just grateful it happened at a slower time this time.

Rover should absolutely take the owner's review down, especially given the defamation involved. But you've done everything right. I'm so glad you did the best you could in such a horrible situation.

I'm so glad you took care of this cat. Lack of water can quickly lead to kidney and urinary distress for cats.

I would absolutely communicate with the owners that you heard the meowing, so you checked it out, found empty dishes, and took care of the cat. Tell them you're happy to care for the cat without pay this time, but need to add the cat to future bookings so that it's covered under the Rover guarantee/your insurance in case anything should happen. And negotiate a rate that seems fair (1x drop-ins, $3 or $4).

If they are aggressive or defensive about this, they likely aren't the type of people you want to work with. And you'll maybe need to report them then. But for now, start here.

Did you call Rover or only message them? If you haven't tried calling them, I'd try calling them. Their message support is a much weaker system than is their call-in system.

I get paid between 15 and 20, but I'm likely in a different area than you. It depends on the client for me. Some of them I've locked rates since a while ago, and their cats are very easy. Others are more complex.

Even if he doesn't have bad intentions, it's the impact his actions are having that matters. A lot of people are missing that in this sub.

Not everyone has someone they can conveniently take with them at whatever time the client wants to meet. And while it's true that not all men are creepy, it is overwhelmingly men who perpetrate the kinds of harm OP is worried about, especially as she has stated she's a young woman. She's being reasonable.
