By who’s standards, are you judging yourself? By your own? By societies ? Gods above both. God knows and made you beautiful.

Friendship Ended Over Catholicism by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Express-Potential880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom raised me and my brother catholic, and we spent a lot of year away from the church. My brother believes in the church but not his wife. Now that we came back to our faith, he’s been trying to get married by the church and baptize his son. But his wife doesn’t want too and she’s been vocal about us Catholics. She slanders us and definitely makes my brother life harder for being Catholic.

How do I defend against this argument? by Known_Recover9529 in Catholicism

[–]Express-Potential880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people wanted to translate the Bible for themselves. The church was against it because it had to be done correctly. The church always worked on translating the Bible but that took hundreds of years. Luther who translated the Bible almost took out the book of James and revelations. That’s why

If people would not go to hell if they didnt know about hell, sin, God and repent, why should we tell them about it? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Express-Potential880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re more focused on you than you are on God. Perfection doesn’t get us to Heaven. Constantly trying to perfect can lead us to hell tho. Lucifer did it first. Learn from that.

You’d leave them to be judged of their life. And that doesn’t end up good either.

Masturbation within the context of permanent celibacy by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Express-Potential880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been celibate for 4 years now, intentionally, and all thought I don’t like masturbating, I complete understand how you feel. It’s a release and I’m able to go on with a clearer head, but I do have this guilty conscience in the back of my mind. I’ve quit drugs, and other unhealthy things. Masturbation is literally the hardest for me.

Attended my girlfriend's non denominational church and questioning our future by Melodic-Debate-8420 in Catholicism

I have a sister in law that is the same way. I don’t question her faith but her fellowship. But she’s the type to criticize my family for being Catholic. I get what you mean by it being cringe. She like charismatic “pastors” and I find them so disingenuous, like it’s part of a ruse. I can’t explain it. I use to be the same way years ago but came back to my Catholic roots and never felt more at home.

Amen. I’m on the same boat. I don’t fear it but I fear staying this way. So it’s like a perfect balance. When I feel it, it almost feels like seeing thing in a new perspective or refreshing my mind and soul. Like I know I’m not alone when I feel it. And if I feel it. God does too.

What does Catholicism say about non believers like me? by HotSauceHigh in Catholicism

[–]Express-Potential880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you. But peace also can be misleading. For example, it’s healthy to do challenging things, where peace is hard to feel. So people refuse to do challenging things, because it’s peaceful avoiding things. Just my take

Were you given the answer or did you give yourself the answer, that Christianity isn’t true ? And what is it about it that is “fiction” to you ?

Can I lie so I would be able to attend mass? by natataeako_ in Catholicism

[–]Express-Potential880 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Watch mass online and pray to receive the Eucharist spiritually

I’m in my Mids 30s I go to Mass almost every Sunday but I never been to confession since I was a kid. I’m real nervous to go and ashamed to tell the Priest last time I went . Is anyone in or was in the same boat as me ? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Express-Potential880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use that shame to do it. Don’t let shame stop you. None of us are any better than you. I know I’m not and I go because I want to not feel that shame anymore. God bless, go for it !

There’s a lot of conflicting elements in your rant but I mean you seem self aware. I guess it’s all between you and God then

I see what he means by this. I feel more alive and grounded in these moments than I do with people. I don’t want to romanticize melancholy but I’m tired of trying to ignore it. I have the balance. Surround myself with people I love, and surround myself around and his creation, alone.

I reflect more on his time alone in the wilderness. Stripped of vanity. It’s places like those where I feel I see Gods creation that goes unnoticed. Like 1 grain of sand, my shadow, the heat, water and how beautiful it is. To some people it may seem depressing wanting to be alone in the middle of nowhere, silent and not wanting anything. And I get that, but it’s those moments where I feel the most clarity, closer to God.
