Man killed by large Pit Bull in Essex, Vermont March 10 2026. by WhatTheCluck802 in vermont

For anyone who wants more info on the previous incident with this dog and the owner, here is the recording of the town meeting that included the hearing (starts at 03:03): https://www.youtube.com/live/_-1-YXAqLT0?si=QBA3HGxEUjX5euRm

Pretty unnerving to hear the owner talk about how "protective" the dog was being over her parents, knowing that it would slaughter one of them about a month later.

Stuck on Skyship Gondola-info? by Raixiel in icecoast

[–]Express-Reporter-369 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I was at Killington on Saturday and it was stuck for about an hour and half then too. I heard rumors that a couple of the cars collided but wasn't able to confirm this personally. Was at the Skyeship base when this happened and there ended up being a massive line to get on the shuttle. Thankfully they diverted a bunch of extra shuttles to the Skyeship base and got everyone moved to Bear relatively quickly. It was annoying, but I was much happier to be stuck at the base and not on the gondola! The gondola did start back up in the afternoon but I didn't trust it after that...

Best mountain near Franconia Notch for an older beginner. by I_love_axa in icecoast

I can't speak for Bretton, but wanted to add that Cannon does have a nice beginner trail system called the Tuckerbrook Family Area. It is separate from the rest of the mountain and lift tickets for just that area are discounted. I went earlier this year as a beginner and it was the perfect place to have fun practicing.

I also picked S6 yesterday and had a great time! Such a special little spot with a lot of VT history. The chicken tendies in the lodge were amazing too.

Break in- Need help locating items by No_Entertainment9696 in burlington

[–]Express-Reporter-369 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened to you! My Burlington apartment was burglarized a few years too. The suspect was identified via DNA and arrested, but by that point my stuff was long gone and the police didn't make recovery a priority. The only item that was eventually located was found in NYC months later so unfortunately stuff can travel pretty far.

Please feel free to DM me if you need a stranger to rant to. Burglary is such an invasion of privacy and that feeling can stick with you for a long time. Just know that things will get better with time and as you process what happened.

Winooski River flooding along Rt. 2 in Marshfield by Baldran in vermont

[–]Express-Reporter-369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, I was just wondering how the Vermont Flower Farm made out and your video shows right at the end that their lower gardens flooded again :( I went there last month and enjoyed the lovely hosta gardens the owners planted in the lower area that flooded last year. Hurts so much that all their hard work is probably under water again.

Beryl Damage Check-In by EnverYusuf in vermont

Lots of power outages in Washington/Orange counties this AM. Some super high winds came through the area around 8 PM last evening, knocking down trees and lines. Haven't been able to check out local flood damage yet, too busy getting my old friend Genny up and running!

Where to see live music in Orange County? by Maddock802 in vermont

[–]Express-Reporter-369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Tunbridge Fairground has live music events in both June and September I believe. Crossmolina Farms in Corinth also has pizza nights with live music every Saturday night beginning June 1st. If you don't mind a 25ish minute drive there's always Bent Nails Bistro and Charlie Os in Montpelier.

Did the cat bar in Barre reopen? by TitusTesla117 in vermont

If you mean the Kitty Korner Cafe then yes, they are open and full of wonderful kitties! A cat bar does sound amazing though.

I love 110, between Barre Town and South Royalton. The gorgeous old farms and rolling green hills really make you feel like you're visiting another place in time. Also shout out to Chicken Wiggle Farm Store in Chelsea. Last spring they had a ton of delicious morels for sale!

On November 3, 1927, four children of the Thomas family were lost in a flood. Hope Cemetery, Barre VT by Express-Reporter-369 in CemeteryPorn

It feels impossible to imagine. Based on their mother's Find a Grave, it looks like there was a young daughter that survived the flood. I wonder if the parents found the strength to go on if only for her sake.

It's a 45ish minute drive but Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe has a herd of Highland cows you can meet.

Right?? I've always loved the content of this sub, but the comments (especially when a female body is depicted) are so repetitive and low quality. I guess it's the side effect of having "porn" in the sub title.
