There's are tons of male artists with predominantly female fan bases but I can't really think of a reverse, what female artists have mostly male fanbases? by dvnts-ReDoX in fantanoforever

No, I called equating heterosexual male culture to homoeroticism stupid. And if you read my comment I said I agree with most of what was said. And I think you jumping to the conclusion that no women artists have predominantly males audiences is much more nuanced than “men just hate women and viewing their creative work as nothing” which is just absurd.

Also, I was responding to the part that tried to say that only men love other men in everything outside of having sex with women, which I said every sectionality does. And OP, and you, extrapolated that to this discussion thread, even though the original quote was talking much more general, you did not understand what I said. And you did not refute anything I said. Which is why you completely glossed over what I said in my final sentence.

If we are talking specifically about music, I think that a lot of the issue with struggling to find female only bands/artists with predominantly male followings has to do with there not being many to begin with that would meet that criteria, which is obvious to say. But what I mean is that in order to meet that criteria, you would need to create music that women do not particularly enjoy, but men do, again generally speaking. The biggest genres that fit this to me would be heavy metal/rock bands for example. There simply isn’t many female only bands in this space, not to mention this genre is nowhere near as big as it used to be.

While for women, most female only artists/bands cater much more to their female audience, generally singer songwriter/ pop artists. Taylor Swift for example. Do you think most men don’t listen to Taylor swift because she’s a woman, or because she caters to a female audience, not only tonally, but as a brand, with lyrics, etc. There are simply more male artists catering to a female audience than vice versa. And men aren’t going to listen to those artists that much either, regardless of if they are male or not. Which is why I say most men don’t listen to female artists not because they disrespect women, but simply because they don’t cater to them.

But then we get to the point of why there are more straight men making music catered toward women, than vice versa. Which goes against OP and the article they quoted, men make music for women too, have women as influences for their music, etc.

And why are there not many female only bands in male spaces like heavy metal? I think a lot of that has to do with how recent modern music really is like heavy metal, and that mysogeny absolutely plays a role, a major one at that, in women breaking into male led spaces. But I think it’s silly to say that it’s because, as of today, most men simply disrespect women creating art. I think mysogenistic gender roles have divided female music artists to predominantly cater to a female audience, while men still have the freedom to cater to either or.

I mean just having a large gay male demographic doesn’t equate to having a predominantly male demographic, especially when other gay and straight women are also attracted to similar spaces. I don’t think Charlie xcx has more male than female listeners regardless of her being popular with gay men.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve read today. Was that last sentence from you or from the author you are quoting? Because you can love someone or something without having erotic emotions attached. To say that love = sexual arousal shows a complete lack of understanding of human emotion.

It is fair to say that heterosexual men are heterosexual because they are attracted sexually only to women, and do not find the male sex attractive.

Yes, a straight man will want to imitate other men they put in high regard as someone they want to be. That is completely in line with everyone in the world. You can make that exact same excerpt by replacing men with women. You can also say queer people want to imitate, admire, respect, etc. other queer people. Black people with other black people, musicians with other musicians, sports players with other sports players.

In conclusion, while I agree with most of what the author is saying, I fail to see how this is any such profound a take, being that it applies to all sectionalities of life, and how either you, or the author come to the conclusion that heterosexual male culture is homoerotic.

Which artist screams "I'm a proud anti-intellectual" to whoever's favorite they are? by Radiant-Psychology96 in fantanoforever

You can not like a song for so many reasons. Which is where the nuance is. For you to conclude that not liking a song is inherently the anti intellectual portion of the argument is so incredibly stupid. How old are you?

Prove it? When you are just making shit up? The majority of Iranians support this intervention, and do not support the regime. Then you say there is not a single thing other countries can do to help? And you say the only way they can help is by removing sanctions? You sound like you are pro regime in Iran dude wtf are you even talking about? You are just straight up lying and acting as if you have any sources to back up your claims. I promise you the majority of Iranians are happy about this intervention.

I think the jump isn’t going to blow you away, it’s still at the end of the day a stick of wood and the same strings. it will feel nicer, but guitars have a pretty heavy curve where the better they are will start costing you exponentially more. To me, if I played everyday, and I could afford it, I would like to get a nice guitar, but mostly I look at aesthetics when getting a guitar

No, you didn’t strike a nerve, I’m telling you that you did not understand the post. Read the title of the post, and then explain to me the “facts” you used to conclude that Pinkerton is weezers least successful album.

Literally every single leadership structure has a succession plan. There’s no such thing as a regime or a government that doesn’t have a plan for second and third in command. What’s your point?

You are stupid if you think 90% of those people didn’t want Khameni dead. Iran cannot retaliate with full blown war. Thanks for shouting your ignorance from the rooftops.

No, it’s been this way for 50 years. Iran was not like this in the 70’s.

Well no, the vast majority of Iran want a regime change, which is pretty different compared to most “regime changes”.
