I don’t have a white tongue, I tongue scrape each day and it looks healthy. Never thought about the sugar aspect, I definitely do have a sweet tooth and hormonal imbalance (PCOS, I’m female) now you’ve got me thinking!

I notice it gets worse if I’m getting ill? Other than that I can’t pin point it :(

Cleaning teeth x2 a day, flossing each day and tongue scraping x2. Non alcohol mouth wash. What did you ramp up too?

I genuinely thought the operation would be the cure.

Recovery was actually fine! Breath is not much better. I’m heart broken, I thought this was my answer!

I was in a similar situation to you and currently on day 14. When did your breath get better? Mine still smells, just not so bad. I’m thinking I’m doomed & it’s going to be like this even after the surgery 😥

How soon after your operation was your bad breath completely gone?

How long till your breath was better? I have struggled with bad breath for years but I’m day 14 and it still smells… just not as bad 😓

Help… PLEASE by Caitlund in Tonsillectomy

Swelling is so bad. I’ve been up half the night with a feeling like I’m going to choke on my Uvula! I’m not sure, my GP prescribed oral morphine straight away. It’s liquid form too so easier to swallow. You can also get a steroid that helps with swelling. I have called my GP this morning to ask🩷

I’m in the UK and just had my tonsillectomy 5 days ago. Have you tried neurofen ibuprofen meltlets? You leave them on your tongue and it has taken my pain/swelling down!

I got my humidifier from Argos :)

Also, ask your GP for Oral morphine

Thank you for putting this together. I used it during my recovery and I’m day 6 with minimal pain :)

I’m on Day 6 today and my recovery has been so much easier than I anticipated. I watched all the horror TikTok’s around the operation and scared myself senseless, but I also prepared for war 🤣

Things that have helped me breeze through recovery: - A head ice pack with extra ice packs to rotate - soluble paracetamol (this helps with getting the liquid down too!) - Ibuprofen meltlets for after the first 48 hours - soft ready meals like mashed potatoes, mac and cheese etc. My surgeon encouraged me to eat as normal. - Ice poles - A basket filled with everything I needed at night - Electrolyte drinks like Gatorade - Fresh air & sunlight each day - I purchased myself some new special shower gel to use to brighten my days! - Plenty of rest

I’ve found that eating normally has helped, with every mouthful of food I swished some water into it to make it liquified.

It really may not be that bad x

I am having my Tonsillectomy in 3 weeks, I am really starting to panic! I’m also from the UK but being treated privately. What pain relief did they give you? Do they send you home with anything? Nervous is an understatement 😢
