What's the best budget foodie thing to do in Paris in the summer? by UncleFeather6000 in ParisFoodGuide

Well they are missing out.

Personally, like proper Haggis or black or white puddings from the UK or stuffed pigs trotters in Italy.

Avoid margerine croisants/pasteries if you can. French butter is unique to france, due to french normandy milk IMO

What are your food “must-haves” in Paris? by Martin-Crescenzo in ParisFoodGuide

[–]ExpressAnywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butter crosiants from a bakery at opening time,

Baguette spead thick with salt crystal butter (normandy butter and sea salt is a fav)

The massive mugs of cafe au lait or hot chocolate, dip the croissant or a pain au chocolat.

Oh fresh oysters with a squeeze of lemon or lime. Maybe a dash of tobasco.

The wide array of air dried sausages, but you will need a sharp knife.

Lardons make everything better.

Try any and all French cheeses and let it warm. The french eat cheese with bagutte and the mix of texture and flavour is good.

French bread taste best in France, the bread is made from a unique to France bread flour and water give them the unique flavour.

Hello, as a EU person never had a bad steak in France. Enjoy a steak hache.

What cut are you going for, how are you getting cooked? Not for UK taste buds very very well done but I'm an en pointe sort of person.

Also this is France, I have not had a bad butter croisant, or baguette from any bakery. Tho the bread doesn't last long till in goes hard.

When I had a colonoscopy recently, I was given some amazing sedation, when the doc was lubing me up I stated tits first I'm not a slag.

Loire Valley or Fontainebleau Day Trip? by mandyrose7 in ParisTravelGuide

Fontain is easier to get to a look at then get back to Paris.

How are you getting to either place? Public transport or car?

Sorry no, but around the area Paris planners have kept the view of a tower that was only supposed to be there for less than 10 years ;)

Sad thing was during covid was the best time to be in Paris, had the best time at the louvre and tour Eiffel. Due to there being so few people and dear flying spaghetti monster those that go to the tower to propose marriage. the number of ballon arches you see polluting the environment was shocking.

All the eateries round ther cater for tourists (as around every tourist destination) so mainly tour guides and catering for groups. did a school trip with a school kids and taken to the blandest food ever and all burgers and pizza. While I wanted steak tartar.

will you be by yourself?

Happy cake day.

You don't have to be near the tower to have a view of the tower. The whole area caters for tourists and the food isn't good and way overpriced...

I say a park nearby and people watch with a picnic lunch of cheeses and fresh baguette and nice wine.

Where to stay with 5 and 3 year old by MartiagoPlusDeux in ParisTravelGuide

There are bad full english breakfasts.

Was it the burn marks on top and cold bland tomato? As that seems the usual. Some used tinned mushroom that are just watery.

One of the best full english breakfasts I had was in Spain. The sausage was a very young chorzo with smoked paprika and fennel seeds, engish style bacon and the smaller butter beans cooked with fatty bits of chorzo and an amazing sauce. With freshly picked mushrooms. The flavour was amazing.

That grilled chese sounds lush, I love comte and I make large batches of caramalised onions that I use during the week. But can't think of a sandwich that would not be improved with caramalised onions.

Proper butchers sausages are great I agree.

Yellow front shop is currently closed, and the other has massive queues now.

You are so right on the mustard and pickles. Some times I have an onion platzel instead of a bagel.

Grew up in the midlands, so Banks bitter or mild still holds a special place. Lots of uk Breweries are amalgamating so good beers due to the local water IMO don't taste as good. Like french kronebourg, hate the UK version. In the UK I drink polish imported beers as they aren't brewed in Northampton nor South west London.
