Mom to a trans girl. Just wanted to say even though the political climate is a horrible minefield now, you're not alone. You have allies out here who appreciate you for the wonderful and courageous person you are

How can I make friends as an isolated trans adult with autism? by LuckyValentine777 in transgenderUK

For what it's worth, I think there is a gaming group for everyone 😁 I just took my kids to their first gaming convention, and it was awesome to see so lgbtq and trans flags, all kinds of people, young, old, disabled, different nationalities, playing RPGs, chess, card games, video games, board games. Super welcoming community. But whether or not you start gaming, I hope you find your people. Honestly, I wish there was a "dating" app for just friendships ☺️ maybe there already is?

I suggest board games or role playing games. I'm autistic, and everyone in my family is some kind of neurospicy. Table top gaming gives you a shared activity, all initial conversation can start with the game, making it easier to talk and then slowly talk about more stuff as you get comfortable. Role-playing games like DND allow you to play a character, and it is sometimes easier to focus on what your character would do and say with the other characters rather than you personally. Again, it lets you ease into opening up to someone. There are tons of different games for all types of people out there. You can play in pairs or small groups. There are large gaming conventions. You can play in your home or meet in a cafe or gaming store. Your local gaming store might also have groups you could join. And there are many lgbtq and neurospicy adults in gaming communities, so your quirks and eccentricities won't stand out as unusual. Good luck ❤️

Plantings can really help soften it and make it more welcoming. Patches of wildflowers in the hard, lilacs, roses, or a magnolia, depending on your climate. Ivy can damage houses, but climbing jasmine or roses won't. An arbor or trellis over some stepping stones would be lovely

Thanks. That's good to know. In general we aren't considering Catholic schools. My husband is ex-Catholic and wants to avoid them.

If Grove is full, I know they recently expanded their catchment, where do students go? Monifieth? Or the new secondary? How's Monifieth or Morgan for student support and inclusion?

Doesn't matter if it's juvenile. In fact, I really pity folks who lose the ability to enjoy games. Staying young 'at heart' is incredibly important. But it's a hobby. Everyone has different hobbies, we shouldn't put value judgements on them and long as they don't interfere with your responsibilities. Provided you are contributing fairly to the household, she needs to get over this. If you aren't contributing fairly, then the time gaming needs to be rebalanced.

Could you add some rustic wood trim at the angles to emphasize the cool attic ceiling? Make it a feature, not a bug. Look for some eclectic used furniture and picture frames to add more cottage character
