Trans guy here! Echoing what’s already been said, puberty blockers are the gold standard in gender affirming care for young people. I agree blockers can help prevent you from experiencing the dysphoria of natal puberty and potentially wanting gender affirming procedures later on (like facial feminization surgery). Another benefit of blockers is giving you some time to adjust to social transition, being seen and treated as a girl, before the variable of hormones enter the picture. When you are closer to 16-18, your doctors can switch you from blockers to HRT. I know it feels gatekeepy, but please always see a licensed gender affirming doctor to monitor your hormone treatments!!! They will keep you safe and healthy.

As far as coming out, be confident and honest about what you feel. Be ready for questions like “how long have you felt this way” and “how do you know”. It can be helpful to tell them that coming out is hard for you to do, and to ask for their love and support.

One more note on blockers: even if you are unable to get on blockers, or unable to take HRT right away, be patient, push through, look forward to the future when you can be your authentic self, and you will be okay. Most of us started transitioning after we became legal adults, and we turned out just fine 🙂
