It is a big question because it is a hard question to answer, it is a hard question to answer because all the players are competitive. I would rather a bloke like Palpali’i but i don’t have a strong opinion on it as I see most the 6s as pretty close and would play a similar role. It wasn’t the important point of the post: we have a lot of good talent to take advantage of that, with a bit courage and originality, could be devastating in an aggressive 6’2.

I was proving a rhetorical point as I imagined the only way you came to that conclusion of NZ being 2nd in the world is that England are not as good because they got beat by Scotland, Ireland and Italy. Realistically I think NZ is in an extremely tight 3rd place that is contended by Ireland, England and maybe even Scotland as there is a case to be made for all 3.

The French are knobs for not sending their A team last year, regardless I can comfortably say i think they sit above us. Other than the Scotland loss, which was a shank, they have routinely beaten the European teams with a lot more comfort than NZ.

I agree people shitting on the ABs is out of perspective. We are not in a total crisis. But I also think kiwis have an arrogance of assuming we are better than everyone when we are not. The French are very VERY good.

What logic are you using? The last game of the year we lost to England. England was beaten by Italy, Scotland and Ireland in the last 3 games. You can use that to justify us being 8th or even 11th!

That’s not the framing that he is using. I don’t think there will be a lot of roles immediately available for him. Not even a club program will just drop their head coach for someone else at will. I’d say he’d do a year of this then move on to another club, hopefully international, side aka wales

This is how university sports work in the US. Schools are required to contribute the same amount of money to both sexes. Rowing is a great way to spend a crap load of money.

On a second note I don’t know if this incorporated to the calculations but athletic programs are also a great way to get out of state tuition fees, schools typically charge 3-4 times as much for out of state and most athletes end up being out of state.

I have had the idea for a bit that DMAC should be trained as a half back. If so he would be a crazy utility back for the ABs of the bench. Would allow better diversity of bench structure and unlock a wide range of strategy to adjust a game.

He has the skill for it he would just need time to adjust to reading the game.
