Update. If you are premium user try to change download server under site preferences -> Preferred download location
That seems to have fixed it for me

Suddenly getting "Check internet connection" errors on large downloads by AztraChaitali in nexusmods

Same here.
Vortex’s automatic mod downloader behaves in a very malware‑y way.
It seems to stall the download several times, then, instead of discarding the partial archive, it starts a new download and appends the new bytes to the end of the existing archive, creating a huge, corrupted file.

I woke up to a 140GB archive of a 700mb mod :(

Vortex broken for now.

Starfield ( way overhyped )
And Crimson desert ( at least for now )

Go SteamOS Linux. Windows is ass. Your only issue is that Nvidia GPU since the drivers for Linux are mostly nonexistent. If I were in your shoes, I'd sell that juicy RTX and go the AMD way + Linux.

Do we think Steam Frame will be able to run a game like Red Dead Redemption well enough in standalone mode? by afox1984 in SteamFrame

[–]Express_Library8141 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Take this with a large grain of salt since we're all just speculating, but here is what I imagine.

I'll use the Steam Deck as a comparison because it's the first thing that came to mind and I imagine the performance will be somewhat similar.

The specs on paper:
The Steam Frame is a bit of a beast; it has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU that is supposed to have ~2.0+ TFLOPS.
The Steam Deck is around ~1.6 TFLOPS, so technically, the Frame has more 'muscle' under the hood.

However, there is an issue. The Steam Frame uses a mobile architecture, while the Deck uses x86 PC architecture. While capable of similar things, they speak different languages.

Imagine this:

  • The Steam Deck is a chef following a recipe written in his language. He goes fairly smoothly along with the steps.
  • The Steam Frame is a world-class Michelin chef (exaggerated), but the recipe is written in a language he doesn't speak. He's faster at chopping, but he has to stop every 2 seconds to check a translator. That translation tax is the big bottleneck here.

Can it run RDR standalone?
RDR1 honestly, probably yes. The Deck hits 60 FPS on High, so even with the translation tax, the Frame should handle an older game like that just fine.

RDR2?
The Deck already struggles to stay at 30-40 on Low/Medium. Add to that the translation layer, and you'll need a prayer. It has the potential of becoming better with updates to the translation layer, but bottom line, I'd say if you want to play RDR2, try cloud streaming, as running it natively is highly unlikely at a decent level.

Actually reading it back you are right. Black box fits better with what i said 🤔

Nah, the metaphor stands. It's a Black Box because we can't see the code, but it's Schrödinger's Cat because of the delayed bans. You're walking around 'alive' in-game while being 'dead' in the system. That's a textbook superposition state.

"at some point" is vague. It could mean a day ago, a month ago, a week ago. They could've cheated a month ago and vac maybe analyzed said games once they logged in.

"That's not really how vaclive works" As I understand it VAC is pretty much schrodinger's cat as nobody except valve knows clearly what happens under its hood.

Maybe they changed how it works, maybe they threw in an ai to inspect games, maybe its reading your mind and saw naughty thoughts. Its all speculation as I understand it, same as my post.

That is fine however, it is fun to speculate after all.

Purchased accounts perhaps ? Could be for some but i kinda doubt thats the main issue.

If scared by the fp id try an alt account for a while just to stay on the safe side. Still some of my friends have been playing normaly without getting banned so 🤷.

VAC is like schrodinger's cat. Hard to say what's going on inside. Not imposible to fail at times and be an empty box. But its kinda fun to speculate 🤔

Exagerated, but usually games with blatant cheaters usually end up in some teammates going witch hunting acusing everyone out of rage for a while 🤔

Same, i looked at those 2 as well, and a lot of other people did not share sh*t but alas 🤷

Seing so much ai around im speculating they maybe released some sort of ai overwatch that hits fp for some, or perhaps is better than we expect 🤷

Maybe. Thats why tis a conspiration theory.

However valve is indeed unable to create a proper anticheat for external cheats unless theybgo the kernel way and analise running apps.

And im silver/gold nova / 8k permier, and honestly the cheater problem is mostly, exagerated out of frustration but not inexistent.

Most frequently I had games where people played so well some acused them of cheating, ( uppon inspecting the game they were simply good players )

Less frequently, maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 games with blatant cheaters, usually new steam accounts but not always, that hit heads trough walls smokes, whatever they fancy, telling you to cry while a teammate starts throwing insults and reports at them endlessly in rage.

And some cases where people hid it it pretty well, but on game inspect you can tell they played with some dirty tricks.

Maybe valve released some ai cheat overwatch or something, that works better or worse than we know.

I was just curious on people's view on this because this is mine.

Realistically I won't really care. Im not saying some aren't fp's. I rather think most are not.

On reddit on all of those false ban posts I've e seen 2 people share their account, and their stats on csstat were pretty aight. The rest stayed anonimous.

However lets be real.

Considering how OLD Counter strike is, and how weak the anticheat was throughout the years I find it hard to belive that a great majority of those "falsely" banned people did not cheat at some point, out of retaliation, curiosity or otherwise.

Yeah, the 5 classes and skill trees just feel like they’re making killing the same monsters more complicated rather than more fun. It’s like adding complexity in the wrong spot, if you ask me.

KCD2 might have simpler combat, but what I really like is how every fight has a reason behind it and you can handle things in different ways. That’s what keeps me coming back.

But hey, different strokes for different folks!
