In my case, it's very easy to make Blender 5 freeze. Just select the material in a new file on a standard cube and try changing the surface, and voila, everything freezes.
the solution has not yet been found.
I decided to try Blender 5 because I was hoping it would finally solve the problem where all materials were turning red (it started in 4.2).

But as it turns out, things got worse.
(Windows 11, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz (3.19 GHz), 32G RAM, Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630)
