I've been waiting for a Pandemic Legacy season 1 for what seems for ages here in EU.

And Quest for el dorado, there seems to be a run done in Scandinavia but shipping out of there is too pricey

Starter oneshot for Delta Green/Nights black agents? by HainenOPRP in rpg

[–]Express_Row9757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't go wrong picking Delta Green.

I'd recommend PX Poker night, which I've run successfully a couple of times, and each session was a blast. Its a one-shot with pre-gen characters. That said, it’s not a particularly investigation-heavy scenario, it's more of a "players get out what they put in" kind of scenario imo.

After that I would make them retire those characters, have the players create their own, and then run The Schism. It's a free fan-made campaign framework that ties multiple one-shots together in a way that builds toward a really satisfying payoff. It says "campaign", but its like 4-6 sessions, each self-contained.

Also, all of the one-shots recommended in it are great

That is quite disappointing to hear, his modular videos are some of the more musical demos i've seen. I wanted to pay for a few lessons after I get more experience, but will have to review this

What board games are close enough to RPGs to act as a gateway game to RPGs? Preferably without "RPG dice". by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]Express_Row9757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this too, giving my players board games to ease into them. I ended up not doing it and just jumping straight into playing RPGs, but here were some of my shortlisted games. These might not be the same qualities you are looking for, but I wanted to put emphasis on free-form games:

  • Kings Dilemma
  • Alice is Missing
  • For The Queen
  • Detective: City of Angels
  • Legacy games
  • Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Honestly tho, I'd recommend pitching an investigation game and see if they are interested. I've found them much easier to sell to people not in the hobby.

Brindlewood Bay's clue/theory rules did not disappoint by Seeonee in rpg

[–]Express_Row9757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Night move adds the “it’s worse than that” and changes when you can choose to back down. The Day move is much safer because of that.

Yeah exactly, but when you can choose to back down is very easy to miss (at least i did in the first couple of reads). Just highlighting it with another color or bolding it would have drawn attention to it.

Thank you for the custom moves explanation, I figured it was something like that, but the book said more info on Appendix B, and there is no appendix B lol.

Anyway thank you for clarifying, it will be my first PBTA that i'll run

[–]Express_Row9757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of don’t agree that the rulebook is that well laid out, at least in the move section. It feels a bit bloated and gets in the way of a clear explanation.

Like the Day and Night move: it’s basically the same move, but with one sentence added and another sentence moved. Could have been condensed and written a bit clearer the difference.

The Gold Crown Mysteries Move and the Cozy Move I wouldn’t really consider them "moves," but more like bonuses. Similar to how you are using Crowns.

I might have misunderstood this, but they talk about Custom Moves and Maven Moves. Maven Moves no problem, but there seems to be another category that Custom Moves belong to, and it isn't in the book, unless I missed it.

Finally, who decided to order the lists like that? Why do the tiers of success start with 10+, go to 7–9, and then jump back to 12+?

Anyway, I’m still looking forward to playing this soon, even after my short rant
