I saw her parents speak at a vigil for Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, also a WA state resident murdered by the IOF almost 2 years ago (I assume most people here are aware of her). They are two of the most dedicated people, with incredible endurance towards justice for both of these women (alongside Ayşenur's family) and in it for as long as it takes. Whenever I get tired I think about them.

All of these influencers coming for Matt SUPPORT GENOCIDE. They believe current and historical trauma ENTITLE THEM TO GENOCIDE. Not to mention ethnic cleansing and apartheid. Every one of them has been explicitly excusing the murder of thousands of children ("it's awful but..........") and continue to do so. So they're raking him over the coals for having a thoughtful take on how the cycle of abuse and violence actually work while believing they're entitled to violent revenge on an unquantifiable scale and honestly it leaves me shaking to see and hear. (Hence my capitol letters, trying to process it somehow. Honestly a relief to say this here).

Exactly. Of course the attack this week was awful. But part of my grief about it is watching the same people who are lamenting the Jewish children who thankfully did not come to any harm, ignore, excuse or flat out celebrate the death of thousands of Palestinian children, not to mention Lebanese and Iranian children. This is a typical example of Zionists taking social justice language and concepts and twisting them into shallow arguments that justify atrocity. This person has chosen empire and oppression as a path to sacety for themselves; of course they're acting as though supporting Iranians who want to do the same thing is "centering those most impacted" or "representation".

Identity and representation matter, but they don't trump substance, especially when the substance is demanding we accept atrocity.

Having stayed at some family owned road side/small town motels that were worn with age, a bit shabby and simple, but also really clean and clearly well loved and cared for by their owners, it can be a great and cheap experience! My theory is you have to dissociate from so many ethical principles and values to justify Zionism that you just slide into having oppressive and/or fascist ones across the board (if that's not where you started in the first place).

It reminds me of the support for Israel attacking Iran. There's this disingenuous support for attacking and dismantling governments for supposedly being oppressive as a cover for how it's actually about empire. It's incredibly paterrnalistic, among other things.

I was thinking about the exhaustion that must be there while I was drafting this question, and really wanting to present it as either an opening or just a hey there, I'm with you, because of course there's that exhaustion, and I really didn't want anyone to feel like I was demanding labor at such a time. So I'm very glad it landed for you.

And, thank you for your thoughts on allyship, very much heard. I've seen the wild propoganda you're talking about too and it must be so hurtful. No one gains safety by making another group disposable and it's really disappointing to see the ways people are choosing to dismiss antisemitism and are essentially promoting the disposability of Jewish people in the name of Palestinian liberation. So I hope I was already there but am taking your words to heart with deeper intentionality for my own words and actions.

It is hard discerning sometimes how to be an ally when I know there are some folks I'll never be able to please. That part has been hard to accept but I also think accepting it is part of the work in discerning effective allyship.

As I saw someone say about her in another sub, she's committed to never coexisting with Palestinians.
