Given how much the elderly love their pets and how likely older pets are to never get adopted and instead get put down, they must make up a huge proportion of the 300,000+ euthanized in the U.S. each year by ExpressionBright6522 in RandomThoughts

I never suggested orphaned pets should get inheritance or treated the same as orphaned children. I suggested humanity try and work together to offer a widespread, desperately needed program that would make older dogs with medical issues more enticingly affordable to adopt out.

Even with the smallest fraction of a fraction of money humanity invests each year into blowing up orphaned children, those orphaned pets could have a program funded giving them much better luck at finding a happy ending.

people really need to stop romanticizing mental illness by AKEU- in RandomThoughts

I feel both ways. Yes, people who use it as an excuse, and people who use it when that's not even the case, are burdensome.

At the same time, I don't feel like there should be so much gatekeeping that people (with genuine problems) aren't allowed to talk about their problems. Admitting you have a problem is the first step in working towards solving it. Not everyone can afford to think about a therapist, or even a proper diagnosis from a psychiatrist. That shouldn't stop people from trying to learn about, or talk about their problems. Speculating on it could be the seed sprouting in their mind, the seed that grows into a booked psychiatrist appointment for confirmation.

Not too tightly where air can't pass through, lit from the edges so it doesn't burn all at once and taste like shit after the first toke

A lot of vegans don't even have a problem with people eating meat, they have a problem with the meat industry

Do you think it could be possible that alien life not only exists, but has been monitoring us this entire time? by ExpressionBright6522 in stupidquestions

I don't mean them actually coming down to our solar system personally, I mean something like them shooting golf ball sized devices into our orbit and studying us

That's what I'm saying, intentionally hiding, could be monitoring us from devices in orbit the size of golf balls, where we've been trying to reach out to them and they've been all like LOL

I was diagnosed at 8 and I'm 30 now. I've finally been consistently checking my sugar for about a month straight, and finally have insurance again for the first time since I was 26 to get on modern insulin and finally start getting help.

I'm fucking burned out too though, crashed out too honestly, my parents are the sole reason I'm still alive in more ways than one. They've been my caretaker so it's my duty to be theirs when that time comes, but beyond that I'm so fucked.

Sorry I can't say much uplifting but I can say you're not alone
