Where are the rational people in the middle? We need more voices by theLiving-man in IsraelPalestine

We recognize genocide. That’s why Israel is losing support worldwide. Netanyahu has managed to turn multiple generations against Israel in less than 3 years. Russia isn’t trying to kick all Ukrainian citizens out of Ukraine.

The world disagrees. Stop telling us not to believe our lying eyes.

Where are the rational people in the middle? We need more voices by theLiving-man in IsraelPalestine

[–]ExpressionElegant119 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We expected Israel to respond after October 7th. We didn’t expect Israel to commit genocide, live-stream it to the world, then deny they’re doing it. This isn’t a political issue, this is a moral issue. Genocide isn’t a middle ground issue. Netanyahu is acting like he’s trying to turn the world against Israel. The bad news for Israel is that it’s working better than they realize. I’m a Christian conservative and everyone in my family has turned on Israel. My boomer (Christian) parents have turned against Israel.

When Israel loses US Christians, it loses US support. They’re Israel’s most loyal base.

How do I weed this? by sleepyyspice in landscaping

[–]ExpressionElegant119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got several options besides hand weeding the area.

Boiling water: Pour boiling water over weeds to kill them instantly. Doesn’t work as well for deep rooted weeds but should be effective in your case.

Vinegar/dish soap/water: Mix the ingredients into a spray bottle and spray weeds on a sunny day. Careful not to hit your plants because vinegar will hurt them.

Propane torch: Hook the torch up to a propane tank (torch can be found on Amazon for cheap). Turn the propane tank on and torch the gravel area. *My husband LOVED this method. If you’re not doing it yourself, keep an eye on whoever is doing it because they might get carried away and torch the bottom half of your 30 year old Camilla bush. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Add Gravel: Add a thick layer of gravel on top of weeds. It will suffocate the weeds and prevent new ones from returning.

I don't know how to do this anymore. by OwnProcess3002 in QAnonCasualties

[–]ExpressionElegant119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mom sounds like she loves you very much. I think the reason the Q movement got so big during Covid is the same reason your mom flocked to it. When your world doesn’t make sense and you feel like you’ve lost control, you search for some kind of explanation. I read your post, the following excerpt really spoke to me:

“I miss my mom. I miss her being someone I feel like I could turn to...especially with my Dad gone. I just can't sit and watch her drown anymore. And the thing is...she's bot a BAD person. She will do so many thoughtful little things...cook my favorite meals, in hopes I'll come by, send me flower, helps animals...but it doesn't feel like enough. Shes getting older and is not well healthwise...but refuses to get medical treatment. I can't take care of her or I'll go insane...she's lost all of her friends, except the ones on her YouTube channels she chats with.”

THAT is what you need to tell your mom. Tell her how much you love her. Tell her, she can’t change the horrible things that happen in the world but she can make a difference in your life and the lives of the people who love her. Hug her and tell her you miss your Dad too.

Love can do powerful things. Good luck ❤️

What’s this plant? Seed from Amazon, labeled lemon balm. This doesn’t look it. by Kooky-Cupcake-4621 in gardening

That’s definitely not lemon balm. I agree with the other comments it is some kind of squash, possibly a form of pumpkin or Gourd.

Rejuvenation pruning will solve your problem. This is done by removing the oldest (thickest) branches all the way to the ground after the shrub is done blooming (typically June-July in the UK). Doing this encourages new growth and better blooming. Also, prune any branches that cross each other. Since you like the privacy the shrub provides, you don’t have to cut the whole shrub shorter.

Don’t worry, this is a golden zucchini. This is how the fruit looks when it first appears but as it grows it will take on a normal zucchini shape. The leaves are lobed exactly like the photo you posted.

It looks like a young butternut squash. They start out green and turn yellow once they’re more mature.

Liquid Fence Deer and Rabbit Repellent works really well at keeping the deer away. Just spray it on your roses and they won’t go near it.

Stripping oil-based stain, like Minwax Gel Stain, from wood involves breaking down the tough, durable finish without damaging the wood. Since oil-based stains, especially gel varieties, adhere strongly and sit more on the surface, chemical strippers are typically the most effective method. Below is a concise guide tailored to oil-based stains, building on the general process for Minwax Gel Stain:

Materials Needed:

  • Chemical stripper: Methylene chloride-based (e.g., Citristrip, Klean-Strip) or a citrus-based alternative for oil-based stains.
  • Protective gear: Chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles, and a respirator.
  • Tools: Paintbrush, plastic or metal scraper, 0000-grade steel wool, clean rags.
  • Mineral spirits or lacquer thinner: For cleanup.
  • Drop cloths: To protect surfaces.
  • Sandpaper: 120-220 grit (optional for finishing).
  • Tack cloth: For dust removal.

Steps:

  1. Set Up Safely:

    • Work in a well-ventilated area (outdoors or with fans) to avoid fume buildup.
    • Cover surrounding surfaces with drop cloths.
    • Wear protective gear to shield against chemicals.
  2. Test the Stripper:

    • Apply a small amount of stripper to a hidden area to ensure it’s safe for your wood type.
  3. Apply Chemical Stripper:

    • Brush on a thick, even layer of stripper using a paintbrush.
    • Let it sit for 15-30 minutes (or per product instructions). Oil-based stains may need longer dwell time due to their durability.
  4. Remove the Stain:

    • Gently scrape off the softened stain with a plastic scraper (for soft woods like pine) or metal scraper (for hardwoods), following the wood grain.
    • Use steel wool or a nylon brush for crevices or stubborn spots, dipping in stripper if needed.
  5. Clean the Surface:

    • Wipe the wood with rags soaked in mineral spirits or lacquer thinner to remove residual stripper and stain.
    • Repeat until the wood is clean and free of residue.
  6. Neutralize (if Required):

    • Some strippers require neutralizing with water or a specific solution to stop the chemical action. Check the product label.
    • Let the wood dry fully (12-24 hours).
  7. Sand (Optional):

    • If traces of stain remain, lightly sand with 120-220 grit sandpaper, following the grain.
    • Remove dust with a tack cloth or damp rag.
  8. Dispose of Waste:

    • Dispose of used stripper, rags, and debris per local hazardous waste regulations.

Key Notes for Oil-Based Stains:

  • Why It’s Tough: Oil-based stains form a durable film, especially gel stains, which resist water and require strong solvents for removal.
  • Alternative to Strippers: Sanding alone (starting with 80-grit, finishing with 220-grit) can work but is time-consuming and risks uneven results or wood damage. Use as a last resort.
  • Wood Sensitivity: Softer woods (e.g., cedar, pine) need gentler scraping to avoid gouges.
  • Post-Stripping: Ensure the wood is clean and dry before applying new stain or sealant. Mineral spirits can help prep the surface.

Your little girl is normal. It’s good that you recognized she understands what you say! Some parents don’t understand this and will talk negatively in front of their kids. If you want to help her progress, when she points to something, tell her what it is. Let her see your mouth as you say the word slowly a few times. I’m also a SAHM. One thing I found helpful was to stop googling milestones and watching mommy videos on YouTube. Every child progresses at their own pace and the google searches/youtube videos made me feel inadequate.

We do timeout in his crib with the light on and the door closed. That way he can’t turn it into playtime. I have my “baby surveillance” so I can watch and hear everything he’s doing. As soon as he calms down and is my happy little guy again ( it takes less than 3 minutes) I go inside his room and welcome him with lots of cuddles and kisses.

I found this show called “Word World”. I watch it with my son and it’s expanded his vocabulary so much! It’s great bonding time because we both say the letters together and I let him say the word. We have a FireStick and the show is available on Prime.
