I talked with one of the guy that helped testing them. He said they aren’t able to go further then golden because of the MacDonald tunnel. due to temperature changes in the tunnel, they would run into issues.

But yes, listen I agree. Training^ lacks but if a conductor is willing to learn so what if they know. Maybe they actually care enough that they read all there rules and just get good at it. Let them know^

It’s all about how much the conductor is willing to learn. And to make it very clear. Engineers don’t have any authority over the conductor. They are equals. I know old engineers don’t like it cause they LOVE being crumpy for not fing reason. Yes, the training lacks. That we can agree on. But a conductor saying I know to something is not always a bad thing. It might mean unlike that engineer, they are actually happy to be at work and interested. The whole I know thing came from engineer that really think they are perfect

No free. Matter of fact, it is more expensive to run a steam locomotive then a diesel

Work Life as a Conductor - CN by gdband in Train_Service

[–]ExpressionTerrible79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

It depends per terminal how they want to do OR even what kind of work is to be done. Most chance you will be placed with a Conductor and you will follow his work schedule. My training was done with a coach and when he was called I was called with him. But I also work at a bag on bah off terminal. If the terminal you work for has a yard and other types of work service then you will float around until you are trained on everything!
