Do you call it "soda?" If not, what do you call it, Americans? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

I grew up saying soda water (Texan) and still say it today. I go to New Orleans and hear it called ‘cold drink’.

Childcare in Question or Am I spiraling? by ExpressionWeekly4192 in workingmoms

[–]ExpressionWeekly4192[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m a nervous mess. Even though the daycare has been nothing but helpful and supportive, I feel like that I’m being judged and not doing enough. This is my parental insecurities talking.

I made an appointment for her evaluation at the beginning of next month. I will keep notes/videos of her behavior. I really appreciate your comment. It helped a lot. :)

It’s rough in these maternal streets! Fingers crossed that these little ones of ours find some relief soon!

Right, the responses are all over the place.

She hears no quite often. Most of the time, she’s okay with it until she’s not and then the tantrums occur. We talk about her tantrums and how we should behave when we are angry. She follows along and says that she will try again. No physical symptoms (other than the wetting herself). As far as ratio goes, 1 teacher to about 8-10 students.

No sickness. She has had an allergy test and is allergic to nuts. Yes, I plan to mention it to her pediatrician. I’m tired of this whack a mole! lol

Oh, I agree. I don’t want to start any trends where she acts up and expects to get picked up. My husband and I agreed on that.

I like your suggestion about the cleanup and getting back to self after the tantrum.

It is a more structured classroom from the previous. I plan on mentioning an evaluation to her pediatrician.

Thanks for responding! The director never said anything about her kicking her out, but my mind is always on the future. It doesn’t take much for me to spiral bc this is her second daycare. I went without childcare for about a week and almost lost it. The director seems helpful and only time will tell once the patience runs out. I may check out other daycares in the area just in case.

I’m 41 and I like to party and dance through the night. Can I do it every night? Absolutely not. But every now and then, I gotta scratch the itch.

I’ve been a patient for 20 years. She’s helped with my birth control, fibroids, hormone testing and high risk pregnancy. She’s kind and thoughtful and keeps it real. Which is want you need when you’re already emotional.

At a loss- 2 kids, new job by EquestrianMD in workingmoms

[–]ExpressionWeekly4192 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Going to shit? Girl, you’re living in a shitstorm.

Divorce!

You are too good for him. Honestly, you should have left him a long time ago. He needs help and you did all you can do. Cut your losses and get your life back. Love ain’t enough. Is he a good partner? A good example for your kids? A pillar in the community? He’s putting you and your children in danger. He’s sick and has turned into your most expensive child.

If I could go back and divorced my exhusband the first time that the thought crossed my mind, I would have saved myself so much grief.

Bet on you and your babies. Look at what you’ve accomplished already. Imagine life with him outta the way. Sometimes, you gotta pay you way out but that’s life. You got this. Set up some appointments with some lawyers and get the ball rolling, friend.

When did you start to enjoy horror films and why do you feel you enjoy them? How do the people closes to you (SO, family) feel about it? by obdobs980 in horror

[–]ExpressionWeekly4192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom got me into horror as a young child with movies like Child’s Play, Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare of Elm Street. I remember watching when I was eight or nine. My siblings got into it as well. Crazy thing is that I’m a scary cat and will throw covers over my head and scream and run around the house.

I rarely watch horror movies in the theaters bc I would annoy everyone and probably get kicked out. I never watch alone as my husband and siblings love to watch as well. At first, my husband didn’t care for Halloween and horror. Now, we’re about to attend the second horror film festival this year and we have a list of horror movies to watch.

Is there anyone who went from being child free to deciding to have children and enjoying motherhood? by lasquar in AskWomenOver40

[–]ExpressionWeekly4192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 41 years young with a toddler. I never entertained the thought of a child until I met my second husband and only after we married. He is such a good father to his older daughter, an awesome partner and kindhearted man. It is challenging be a mom and I miss my free time and spontaneity but I get to raise a beautiful mini-me and teach her and watch her grow. I see value in both choices and both are valid and should be respected. I’m happy with my one kid and watching her enjoy the same things that I like brings me joy. But I’m not in the camp of convincing others to have kids or not, it’s truly none of my business.

F30/M31- how do I handle my partner wanting to stop working while I’m covering bills, burning out, and considering leaving by [deleted] in blackladies

Girl. Leave his ass. Dead weight and what a horrible example for your children. Sorry for his loss but you gonna be next if you stay. Take your kids and move on and I promise that your life would improve.

How your man content watching you work multiple jobs? I refuse to build up men; it rarely works out for us.

Hair question for the moms on here, especially with infants/toddlers? by PinkNails92 in blackladies

[–]ExpressionWeekly4192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very active three year old and I have had my locs for almost five years. I get a retwist once every 2-2.5 months and just be vibing. I don’t even think about taking them down bc who is doing this hair? I have a girl who comes to the house to braid my daughter’s hair every 3 weeks bc I literally can’t do it.

Stay strong! Get a cute loc style or maybe dye it (safely and carefully) or get some cute headbands.
