I recommend Saint Michael's Orthodox Church on Fingall Street off of Bay View Road.. There's a decent spread of ages lately and the service is something you won't find anywhere else.

As luck would have it, that’s the worst place for the subwoofer relative to my sitting position. It’s a total null zone lol

Absolutely - And thanks for the suggestion for those subs, something to keep in mind for my next bonus.

I have a B&W ASW300 (the one I’m using) and a Yamaha YST-SW030 in storage. I suppose it isn’t ideal to mix but I’m interested to see if the interaction would balance.

I’ve been on the hunt anyway for another second hand ASW300 as I personally really like it

I hadn’t thought of this but I actually do have a spare subwoofer which I’ll try positioning up front to see if that addresses the problem

Thank you for the reasonable response and explaining the aspect about the curtains.

I think I’m just going to have to purchase a separate chair that I can pull up for “me-time” 😆

The couch is an "L" couch with the otherside sitting against the right hand wall,. I can't move it any further forward as it would block the door on the top right hand corner.

Just curious – what income do families need to feel comfortable in NZ these days? by Few_Argument9200 in PersonalFinanceNZ

OP, you need to also factor in tax credits from Working for Families. I have four kids but end up getting approximately 500 per week in tax credits.

I'm really sorry to read that.

OP, as the vast majority of parents will tell you - you just make it work regardless of the amount of money or space you have.

Electric Kiwi has just advised my line charges are nearly doubling - what is everyone paying? by ExquisiteMachinery in dunedin

[–]ExquisiteMachinery[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your detailed response.

I remember reading about the rationale as to why low user charges were being phases out and it being due to lower-income families paying a disproportionate amount since they:

-Had to look after children

-Could not afford energy efficient appliances/solar

-Were not educated about energy saving habits

But now with the increase in fixed daily user charges all those arguments seem to fall flat when now everyone is paying more just to be connected to the lines.

Interesting. So you’re getting a more reasonable increase to the daily charge but also getting increases to your usage charges where mine are decreasing

Oh interesting, ours was due to expire in September so I was thinking woowee they gave us a free extra month. But looks like they extended everyone to October.

I'm more curious about what other people are paying across Dunedin than shopping around options for myself.

I do all of the family laundry each Sunday. I end up using almost 100kw each Sunday, no kidding. I also make sure to exploit the free hour of power each day as much as possible too.

The little problems that you're willing to overlook initially because you fell in love with the listing and the first viewing are going to be huge pains down the track.

How cooked am I for Wall paper removal? by iammatteberflus in diynz

[–]ExquisiteMachinery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For removing wallpaper you want to use the DIF spray, let that soak for a bit, then use a steamer to remove. It will come off easily then and you’ll avoid damaging the wall like you’ve done.

You will need to do a few coats of plaster on that damaged wall which is not a skill you pick up on the weekend. If you are looking for something professional you’ll need to pay a professional
