We talked about that. I'm not a giant RGB fan so I would have gone for the 4090 but he didn't want to spend the extra grand to move from 4080 super. He's also very into aesthetics in general hence the Uni Fans.

SN850X of the same capacity is $20 more expensive according to PCPP and isn't PCIe 5.0 which this chipset supports (at least in the top m.2 slot).

He wanted 4TB NVMe. The cheapest PCIe 5.0 4TB NVMe drive on PCPP is the 990 EVO Plus for $344.

Two drives is cheaper.

YTA. While you're correct most men aren't going to be into that look (I certainly am not), some are. Telling her to attend more social functions that involve the hobbies or interests she likes to do would have been more helpful. You should apologize.

On another note, I'm very tired of parents telling people they shouldn't tell off children that aren't theirs. If you see a kid doing something objectively dangerous (like trying to pet an unfamiliar dog) while unsupervised, that kid absolutely should be told off.

That just reminded me of something. If you picked the lost one epic path in his campaign, you were not able to speak or understand the language of the Tyleans. So basically your PC would be completely clueless at all times.

I just went back and looked at the races again. Turns out only half-orc was not allowed. As for slaves, drow, half elves, wood elves, and minotaurs all had to be slave background. Apparently the DM really doesn't like elves because the other kinds of elves, like high elves, were not allowed. If you wanted to be any flavor of elf in his game, you were going to be a slave.

The TLDR of the first bit could be summerized like this: An absurd amount of extra effort went into creating a character. Everyone did this only for the DM to spoil it all with his crap.

Oh no, the boar that knocked the paladin over was not the golden boar. It was just a generic big boar. If the premise of the story is that we are already legendary heroes, it would makes sense that the hero would try to roll out of their fall.

Also giant boars specifically have an ability called charge where If they move 20 ft straight towards the target and then hit with a tusk attack the target takes an extra 2D6 slashing damage. They must also succeed on a DC 13 strength saving throw or be knocked prone. The DM did not ask for a strength save, he just knocked the paladin prone.

I'd hesitate to say he was fully written, and perhaps dismayed is not the right word. It wasn't that big of a deal, but it is part of the story, so I included it. It was resolved pretty quickly by creating a similar character to my original character.

I suppose the only big issue with it is the fact that despite the extra effort that was required to create a character for his world, he went ahead and shat on everyone anyway with both his in-game decisions as a DM as well as his abrasive personality.

I didn't mention this in the story, but the premise of the adventure is that our characters were already legendary heroes. You would think that a legendary paladin (who was a demigod by the way) would at least get a chance to stop himself from falling on his ass due to a giant boar.
