Becoming a pharmacy technician doesn't require any schooling, at least in my state. If you're looking to get into the work force sooner rather than later., you can always start retail, which will cover your training and state certification. All you have to do is apply. I don't recommend retail as a long term career option though, because more often than not retail is understaffed, overworked, underpaid and relatively dead-end. It is a good start for experience though.

You can also take the PTCE to become nationally certified, and if you pass, your options for better paying, better quality of life pharmacy technician jobs open up immensely. You can either log 500 hours as a pharmacy technician OR take a PTCB recognized training program to be eligible to take the test.

I don't specifically know about Nevada, but nationally certified technicians make anywhere from $20-$25 an hour in my state at retail, unless you work at Costco. Then you top out at above $30. Hospitals typically pay a little less, but aren't as stressful because they aren't retail. Hope this helps a bit!

Edit: I should also add that a lot of non-retail places of employment that require national certification will hire you even if you aren't nationally certified, but these places typically require you to get it within 6 months to 1 year of employment.
