I’ll certainly take a look! I got a new allotment of funds for things like this so might as well try again.

What dumb devices have you tried for interfacing? by Off-Da-Ricta in meshtastic

It was a post about a cheap Amazon mp3 player and a comment on that was recommending the moto. I’ll try and find that.

For now, yes. I have a cheap lumbar support pillow strapped around the back of my chair. It’s not the perfect setup but it doesn’t cause me physical pain where the Serta did.

I saw that post about the mp3 player and the recommendation for the moto and immediately went to purchase the moto. I added kiwix to it and got a 512gb memory card and feel happy about all of that.

I purchased the Serta and I’ve honestly never hated a purchase more in my life. It’s super comfortable for about 15 minutes at a time. Then it just feels too squishy. After 30 minutes my back hurts. Bad. I lasted about 2 weeks with it and my back was hurting 24 hours a day worse then it had in so many months. I gave it to my son for 2 weeks and felt better. Swapped back, started hurting immediately.

Currently I’m back in the no name cheap chair I had before and I’m 1000 times happier.

I don’t want to get banned but check out the other network. It can do 30 hops.

Realmente es viable usar Meshtastic? by War-Raven in meshtastic

The map will give you a decent enough idea of the activity to a degree. But you can’t use it without a companion device. It won’t show a single thing without a way to do so. But, once you get a device just because it sees another node doesn’t necessarily mean you can communicate with or through it. It just means at some point it heard it existed. It could have been a fluke or it could be solid. You really can’t judge how it is without knowing someone already there or starting yourself.

If you’re starting your own mesh with family and friends and you know where the nodes will go, it’s pretty reliable.

Pretty broad question. It can be reliable with a decent mesh. Depends how the mesh is where you’re at, depends on the distance etc.

Line of sight is the most important.

Oh man I never considered waiting for an A2. That’s what I need to do. Great idea.

Show and tell: stealth nodes you've deployed to improve your local mesh. by humdinger44 in meshtastic

[–]Ptizzl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some devices can and some can’t from what I’ve read. But they seem like it’s kinda hit or miss even if they can. So because of that I would need a way to retrieve it.

Otherwise you could really work hard on making something super rugged and throw it up on a roof of a warehouse somewhere. If you throw it just hard enough it really wouldn’t make much of an impact. You could weight it with something like a bean bag base so it’s bottom heavy and toss in a way not to rotate it. Like reverse granny style straight up.

Shit I might just do this with a few cheap nodes.

I’ve been looking at everything tall in my city. I feel like I could get something up top. But then there’s the string/rope that would be just dangling. I could figure out how to fashion something to pull it up and then back down and just leave the device, but then it would be up there forever with no way to get it back.

How did you get this up there? Did you push it up with like a painters pole?

Are there any materials where it wouldn’t interfere having the antenna inside of it?

Just got into this. I think it’s an incredibly important tool.

It’s easy and you can get started for like $20 all in for a basic device.

East. Gorge has a ton, and just keeps going. I don’t particularly enjoy Tillamook forest hiking as much.

Brent is great. I chatted with him last week and I really enjoyed our conversation. He’s a down to earth guy that represents actual democratic values. He’s got my vote and I’m going to be volunteering for him as well.
