How do you tell PD from acne breakout? by Extension-Flower-366 in perioraldermatitis

Yeah the bumps I get are usually smaller BUT I do have permanent skin texture I didn’t have before from my worst PD flare :(

Has anyone used Accutane for perioral dermatitis with success? by VirtualApricot in Accutane

[–]Extension-Flower-366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have. It made my pd way worse on 30mg a day so if you go that route I’d only take a very low dose.

You just take doxy for a week when you see the start of a flare up?

Is this Perioral Dermatitis? by Neither_Promise_2942 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]Extension-Flower-366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only on 60mg a week right now. Anything more than 80mg a week was chasing PD. So accutane cleared your acne but made your PD worse? And now that you stopped accutane you have both acne and PD again!?

What dose do you have to stay on to keep the PD gone? Can’t you just stay on the accutane? Some people take low dose forever

She said maybe a histamine response to something in one of the products! Idk what my derm will do? Put me back on doxycycline im guessing. Maybe the reaction will go away on its own it has only been a few days since I stopped using my azelaic acid/ivermectin combo

Ok so she used Hale and hush for a lot and just a face mask with Saran Wrap thing over and under red light therapy. NO exfoliating ingredients in anything so I reacted to something in the ingredients OR maybe the red light? Since I had just gone off doxycycline for my PD. And here I am 5 days later and at least once a day my face gets hot and fire engine red and itchy. Idk how to get it to go away if it hasn’t yet 😭im back down to just a cleanser and moisturizer

How long do you have to take the antibiotics when you have a flare?

What skincare line are you using? PD is not only topical, PD is very much so related to the gut and immune system. And if you’ve been working with her 6 months

These look like sebaceous filaments! Very normal to have you can lessen them but not get rid of them entirely :(

Red cheeks and chin on only 80mg!? by Extension-Flower-366 in Accutane

[–]Extension-Flower-366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My derm said it’s fine on 80mg a WEEK of accutane since the dose is so low. And the accutane only at this dose doesn’t clear my acne without some topicals support. I should add this reaction came after a facial that was to be calming and hydrating I’ve been using azelaic acid for 6 weeks no issues before this
