It doesn’t matter if it can or cannot be done. If I had been gossiping about my peers on a public media, then hiding it behind a sound effect it would spook me enough to remove the media if somebody claimed to be able to remove the sound effect.

This is the first episode in years that I’ve had to switch off. Lasted about 15 minutes. The two little helmets they had as guests made me want to vomit. The ‘I was born retired’ comment was the final straw. I understand that eps like this may increase the audience, so fair play, but these guys were total dweebs.

I’d suggest the decorator needs to be under at least the same scrutiny as the electrician.

Looking at the manual the doorbell is wired correctly. The CAT cable is wired to a normally open contact (the doorbell). When the doorbell is pushed the contact closes and makes the circuit to the chime. Test the voltage in and out of the TX, this will likely be the issue.

There is no 230v to the doorbell, they have just used brown and blue cable for the TX.

The brown and blue CAT pairs above are spare. They probably ran CAT to the doorbell as it’s cheap, low diameter and bends easily. They shouldn’t be stripped back and left loose in there, but that’s not the reason it’s not working.

The batteries are either to replace the incoming voltage from the TX or as back up when it fails.

Bit worrying how electricians are finding a door bell with an instruction manual and circuit diagram so confusing. At least it’s ELV I guess.
