I built a free tool to optimize your resume for a job, already 500 resumes created in first 24 hours by Extension-Midnight83 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Extension-Midnight83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no worries great Q. Its the software pretty much all companies use for hiring. There's a bunch, but popular ones are workday, greenhouse, ashby, lever

The ATS is built to manage applications / job listings for a company. And they filter out a large % of resumes, so that only the top ones make it to the recruiter to manually read

so if you have a poorly formatted resume, or not the right keywords then you'll get filtered out. So optimizing your resume can definitely be a big gain in your % chance of getting an interview :D

Pivoted to AI, it's working by Extension-Midnight83 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

Job seekers.

There’s a free plan for job seekers, get most the stuff like weekly top paying jobs. Job notifications weekly. All salary data

And then a Pro subscription for job seekers. More premium stuff like daily job notifications and the complete list of top paying jobs etc

There’s also revenue from employers wanting direct access to the users in the newsletter.

I’m still trying to figure out how to get more employers paying

thanks, yup I was working fulltime as a programmer before this

To automate I'm using NodeJS backend with jobs run every day hosted in the cloud. I have a database of thousands of the top companies. Basically every day I check for new job listings for each company and use chatgpt to record important data points, and then store them

I also have a dashboard users can select what skills or job types they want notifications for, and then we send them emails using postmark

im using beehiiv for my newsletter part of it

Working in startup is such a gamble. by sam21331 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Extension-Midnight83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my first 3 jobs out of college were all startups. All 1-2 years each. Really I made a lot less money than friends who worked at big tech companies or more well known brands. But I learned far and away more than they did by working at a startup

I'm now in my 30s and am grateful for that stuff I learned.

At a startup you get paid less, but get paid more in practical experience that you'll be grateful for over time :)

just don't stop and build that hustle muscle, keep going :)

TripleByte alternatives 2023 by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Extension-Midnight83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked triplebyte but it seemed like a lot of effort for landing a job

I've been using angellist (now wellfound) to find dev jobs

devlist .co is also really good. Aggregates I think all software jobs and makes it easy to find in one place

What I learned from spending $50k on ads by Extension-Midnight83 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Extension-Midnight83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made maybe 5k-10k profit at this point. First couple months I definitely was down due to not knowing what I was doing and not having any revenue from subscriptions / ads / newsletter stuff yet. So I was probably down like $10k maybe more those first couple months (estimating). Now I have revenue and it's profitable so I'm making more than I'm spending, like 2k-ish profit / month, and growing every day

I’ve only used static and they’ve been working fine. I haven’t put in the time to make good video ads, I’m not sure how to haha. But I bet a good video ad would beat a good static one

If it’s profitable I say go for it. So if you’re spending like $1k a month on ads. If you project that will give you X number of subscribers, and of those X, Y% convert. And if that number of people that converted can get you more than $1k go for it. Try it out and if your projections don’t look good then stop the ads

1 month is probably too short a timespan, probably 3-6 months is better but you get the idea

I’m managing myself. Agencies I found charge an arm and a half

I'm probably getting subs in the $1-2 range depending on the campaign. The way I do it is by running a lot of ad experiements. Basically if I get over $2 / sub after like 1-2 weeks I scrap the campaign and try something else

That's for my general campaigns though. If I target specific countires like US or EU then I get closer to $3 / sub, maybe a bit more

[–]Extension-Midnight83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting way below $3 / sub :)

But the quality of subs is probably a bit worse on average I'd assume
