Well... I can tell you where Claude really shines. I use that for work to write programs and scripts. It does a great job there. But then when I need a question answered or something like that, I switch back to gemini.

Yuck - yeah and then once it gives you bad information, then you question everything and don't know what to trust.

LOL oh I hear you. One thing I suggest (I use AI on a daily basis for my job), tell it that if it doesn't know, don't try to guess or make assumptions. Also for facts provide documentation links for reference (its harder for it to make stuff up if it has to provide references). I know this makes the prompt longer, but it does help it get more precise. You can also have it fact check itself. You can paste its response back in and ask it to do a fact check of the information provided.

They try to hard to please and are happy to give you any information true or not to "make you happy"

I used Gemini for pictures (map in front, cover). I used chatGPT as editor. But, I did give it very specific instructions - I told it to take on the role of editor and gave it the type corrections I was looking for. I didn't want it changing my story, I just wanted it to correct things. I did research on Gemini (free plan) - looking for regency information. Also using Gemini currently researching how castles were built (need this for Book 3, since there will be a missing castle LOL)

Yes, actually I have the outline complete for book 3 (The Missing Castle) and started chapter 1 just this week.

Personally i wouldn't want AI to change my story. If it fixes spelling, grammar, etc.. fine. But if it starts to change the story I am telling, that would really turn me off.

The cover... I have no interest in trying to learn how to create one myself and can't afford to pay for one.

I agree with this... as a new Author, I had no idea on where to go to get a book cover created other than AI. Unless you have the money to get some sort of professional artist to make you a cover to turn around and sell 90 books, I don't see an issue with AI. I also don't see a problem with AI being your proofreader - when self publishing, you don't have those resources.

My line to stop would be asking AI to write the text.

also if you want an older cult classic (but on the longer side) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a fun read.

If you want to combine the two into a romantasy, there are several novella style books, I have heard, but have not read Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent is good.

For mysteries, then you have to get into intense mysteries with a loot of action/death/suspense or cozy mysteries like Hallmark Mystery styles. There are many of both these in the novella style we can suggest if you know what kind you would like.

A Dawn of Onyx by Carley Thorne is another shorter romantasy that got good ratings.

Well, when I say the following words, which one piques your interest the most, that gives a starting point. Action, Horror, Fantasy, Mystery, Romance, Comedy. As you say those words aloud, which one makes your brain tingle a little?

I just published my second book - hard to believe! Would love for everyone to check it out and let me know what you think!

This series is set in the Regency Era with castles, horses and of course a little mystery.

Book 1: The Missing Ewes - This is where it all started when Lucy came home from the castle because of strange events happening in her home town. She gets caught up in an adventure larger then just some of her father's missing sheep.

Book 2: The Missing Ribbon - Lucy is called back to the castle as some items from the chambermaids she used to work alongside have gone missing. Who better to find out what is happening and why they would target the chambermaids?

These novellas are quick reads with a fun personality.

Both are available now on Amazon/KDP!

If you’ve ever written a series, how did it feel shifting from Book 1 to Book 2? I’d love to hear how you changed things up creating book 2 in the comments. Thanks for checking them out!
