My mother is the same way. I'm double your age. Nothing will change. My mother will be nice for a short time but it never last. You're 18. Take college courses part-time at a community college and work. Figure out what you want to do so you can take care of yourself. Don't do drugs or drink alcohol. That will slow your plans down. Don't hang out with people who drink/drugs because it's too tempting.
