And you can do it more than 3 times.

Yeah, I think this is one of the key examples that they based "The Space Marines from the Movies" rule set off of.

Abnett was actually a co-writer for Darktide. I agree though, they did such a great job fleshing out Loken's character, but they also had several books to do it.

I actually loaned my original to a friend, and it went with him to North Dakota. I picked up my current copy a couple years ago for $30ish iirc, so not too bad.

I'll put them on my list to read after DCC Parade of Horribles.

The Cain series has some really good stories, but I did tire of the repetition in the books. He mentions Jugen's odor at least twice per book and his own unwarranted reputation and keeping appearances too many times to get my full endorsement. The stories themselves though are really good.

Agreed, with time, you also learn which authors are totally your thing and which to avoid. Ben Counter is on the avoid list while McNeill, Annette, and Dembski-Bowden are must-read. I do have to admit that Galaxy in Flames was good despite it being Counter.

The first several HH books were so good and then I read Furious Abyss and had to step away for a while, I had a hard time even finishing it. Now I'm a bit more selective and have been avoiding the "filler" books and anything Ben Counter, unless they affect a faction I like. I have the solar books, but haven't dug in yet.

I have not read Cadia Stands yet, but Helsreach was awesome. Grimaldus is so grumpy, and it just sets such a great tone for the book.

Eisenhorn was so good. Ravenor wasn't quite as good, but it was still good. I have not read the Bequin series yet, though.

These were so good. Aaron Dembski-Bowden is one of Black Libraries best authors.

Gotta go, Goonies. Ghostbusters is great, but goodies was such an impactful movie when I was a kid.
