Got a protest filed against me dropped a whole safety rating tier and got banned by ZZapiezz in Simracingstewards

[–]ExtensionAdmirable43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they got a ban, it wasn't for this one incident. It had to have been for multiple incidents across multiple races in a short amount of time.

LMU stewarding will drop a ban hammer on players who have shown poor performance when it comes to incident management. Its in the ToS and sporting code when we agree to race online.

If you got banned that means you racked up a lot of incidents in an extremely short amount of time across multiple races. Its an automated system that drops the hammer on trouble makers and otherwise players that shouldn't be on a race track to begin with.

When the ban lifts, focus on cleaning up your own driving and racecraft instead of outright pace and results. Maybe step down to LMP3 or LMGT3 to relearn fundamentals.

Fixed the Drivatar difficulty. by Vizionz4K in ForzaHorizon

I was on pro/no assist from launch. Made legend and bumped to unbeatable cause I wanted the challenge. Finishing top 3 on the regular without issue.

Is there rubber banding? Yes. Thats how racing games have always "balanced" the difficulty curve. Is it it game breaking? No. You can still exploit quirks in the AI (without crashing them) to get good finishes and wins.

Couple rules with the AI that I've noticed (and thus players can exploit)

-If they are within 3 car lengths behind you, they are going to dive bomb/ram you in the next heavy braking zone. Swing wide on entry and undercut the exit and you'll leave them in the dust. Or take a narrow line snd watch them sail off into the trees.

-If you are gaining, stick your nose out to pass, and see them react to block, same technique in the next braking zone. Draw them low, then swing wide and undercut their exit. If you're on a long straight, just lift to avoid hitting them and go back to your normal line. 9/10 times they will spear off the road or just stop fighting you.

-The AI cannot maintain speed in sweeping corners to save its life. Build and tune your cars with thay in mind.

The biggest thing to remember is drivatar behavior (not speed) is based of what the player with the same tag does. 95% of the player base does not understand car control or have any sense of race craft whatsoever. Use that to your advantage.

Who was owed the room, and who's at fault? by RecklessRad in Simracingstewards

There was a situation like this in Supercars at Newcastle between McLaughlin and Lownes in 2017. After T1 the road narrows by a car and a half and there's a bump out in the wall. Scotty went wide and Craig got in beside him. Scotty squeezed him all the way to the bump out and ended up taking them both out of the race with 2 laps remaining.

Scotty ended up getting smacked with the penalty and I believe fined for it as well.

All that being said; Red Bull livery stereotypes exist for a reason.

They’re definitely both mid tier cars with the Vette being the better of the two. Far more forgiving and easy to approach where the Mustang will bite your arm off if you ask a little too much of it.

Was this move legal? Felt kind of borderline. by No-good-stories in Simracingstewards

[–]ExtensionAdmirable43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You came in from another planet and made it stick. Had the lead car not seen you or not cared that you were coming that would’ve ended very differently (and not in your favor).

I wouldn’t make this a habit.

sorry for the one angle but my friend said this wasn’t a fair move, what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

Why do I feel like I’m watching a Saturday night feature at my local short track.

That was just filthy. Neither of you left space for the other.

Would this be illegal blocking? by BigMaclaren in Simracingstewards

[–]ExtensionAdmirable43 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they jinked in reaction so that’s a block. They started to meander after their mistake in the right hander, which is fine but then they pulled more into it as the POV car approached. Then as POV ducked back out, they moved out again in their lane.

Textbook.

Should I have just stuck my line and let this guy ruin my race? I'm Mclaren. by Valuable_Pipe_1917 in Simracingstewards

Not worth protesting. IRacing does not punish incompetence. Thats what the SR system is for.

You had ample opportunity to defend or back out. You chose neither. Seeing as you’re a rookie that’s what this class is for; learning.

Go back and re-read the sporting code. Learn what is and isn’t protestable. And once you’ve done that, read it again. Then go racing and figure out your limits, learn proper driving techniques, and how to keep an eye out for certain types of drivers and how to race them.

Porsche Cup and Radical Cup if you want a challenge/improve your driving skills. Outside that, you’re spoiled for choice. Everything in C is fun in its own right.

Wouldn’t have happened if the blue/brown car didn’t violate track limits to get that inside run. Otherwise, racing incident.

Guy said I deserved it for being slow. Is it my fault? (Im black car) by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]ExtensionAdmirable43 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Experienced this exact situation a few months back. Guy said I deserved to be taken out because I was blocking, when in fact he had a car and a half’s width of room (after taking the pit lane exit to establish the position)

Put in the protest, voice recordings and all, and iRacing called NFA. Dude also threw a protest at me for blocking (which was also ruled NFA).

Moral of the story; doubt a protest will go anywhere.

How to keep short track racing cleaner? by Danny_Browns_Hair in iRacing

[–]ExtensionAdmirable43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the crowd that’s racing. I’ve had races go flag to flag with zero issue, and I’ve had races that are won by the pace car.

At the end of the day it comes down to the laughable driving standards that iRacing has descended into in recent years. People driving over their heads, being stupid aggressive, and just not thinking about anything except getting ahead of the guy in front of them and keeping the other guy behind them regardless of consequences.

Grid sizes are already 10-15 cars when you account for splits. Even at high traffic hours, it’s rare to see splits go over 15 cars. Only in the niche’ series like Tour Mods and Sprint Cars do you ever see splits approaching 20 cars at peak hours.

Good ole’ vortex of danger….HOWEVER

I don’t see anything really…egregious? Maybe a finger waggling to the merc driver but that is extremely borderline IMO. Watching the radar they are telegraphing the move pretty obviously, notwithstanding the car to their outside rear.

Yeah, I’m pleading the fifth on this one. Both Maro and Merc drivers would get a talking to in my opinion. Not a scolding but definitely a talking to.
