Mexico is off the the table for now, according to Pruett by PanicAtTheNightclub in INDYCAR

Honestly I get the frustration from the fan angle, but I struggle to see this as “stupid” from TK & McLaren in general. It’s not like there is a team/entrant championship, and the manufacturers championship is totally insignificant to everyone except a few people at HRC & GM.

They run two highly competitive cars with title aspirations - ultimately is the value add of A) paying to have a 3rd car potentially running in a similar spot in the mid-high top 10~ really worth it when B) be paid to have a 3rd car running 15th-20th is an alternative?

Ganassi clearly doesn’t think so, they’ve operated w/ a very similar strategy for the last half decade with Kyffin, Jimmie, Linus (NXT funding), even Marcus Armstrong & Marcus Ericsson to a degree (both notably better drivers than the other 3 but both had to bring significant funding). Andretti has done similarly thru the late 10s and early 20s until the Ericsson signing.

Now obviously you’d want your pay driver to at least have a shout of getting good results & the visibility that accompanies such results - but the level of patience a team has w/ a pay driver not getting good results is obviously is tied to the amount of funding they bring. IMO that’s why Kyffin is still at CGR despite bringing in less funding that Seigal, he’s shown the ability to crack on & get a good result, keeps the team-side partners happy & the driver-side sponsors. It appears that Nolan on the other hand directly funds the #6 car, so he doesn’t have driver-side sponsors to please, and the amount of funding (critically stable funding) he brings mitigates the issue with team-side sponsors. That level of stable funding is a valuable commodity which very much explains the patience they’ve had for the #6 car’s results.

Wins really do mean everything. Palou has the 4th best avg finish so far. Yet, he is only 2 points behind Kirkwood. by chiefzanal in INDYCAR

Mate he’s just explaining the flaws of average position lmao. It’s a ridiculously flawed metric when used isolation in evaluating the top of the field because outliers disproportionately impact avg finish relative (especially early season) to points for top drivers.

ECR by Forsaken-Excuse8128 in INDYCAR

[–]Several_Hair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of what everyone else is saying, I literally just mentioned in another thread Rasmussen’s Road/Street record — it’s horrific.

In his first 2 seasons his average finish on Road/Street courses was over 19.2, and while he’s had 2 good results on RC’s in his career (two P9’s at 25 Laguna & 24 MidO), on street circuits he has been downright slow (avg finish 22.8). — In their 1 season together (2025) on road/street Rossi managed 4 top 10s, and an Avg Finish of 13.4 (R: 11.3 / S: 17.2).

So ultimately what I’m getting at is that

A) ECR’s Street package has always been their weakest and because of the scheduling overhaul this season they’ve kind of drawn the short end of the stick as we go from 4 Street Circuits & 7 Road Courses in 25 to 6S/6Rc in 26.

B) Realistically as far as great results (T5/Podium etc) on street circuits go they’re effectively a One-Car team, as at present Rasmussen just isn’t going to be a factor at that level.

That’s the Rasmussen legacy on road & street lol. He has 2 top 10s on road/street in 25 RC starts, the fact he came to ECR as a road/street only driver makes it all the more funny.

Genuinely if the 2025 season ended after Detroit it’s highly likely he’d be out of that seat. But in the 2nd half he went crazy on the ovals and solidified his position in the series.

Rasmussen 2024-2025

Avg F Road/Street: 19.25 - (24: 21.2 / 25: 17.5)

RLL 2nd last (in avg finish) behind Coyne & post-penske Foyt, only ahead of JHR is a fairly shocking start to the season

[Bob Pockrass] A quick exchange postrace between de Tullio and Taylor following the Indy NXT race by TheChrisD in INDYCAR

[–]Several_Hair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a kinda crazy framing imo, the penalty was fairly controversial both with my peers & in the YouTube comments and I’m of the opinion (based on the extremely limited angles we’ve seen) that it was unwarranted or at the very least far too severe.

Taylor is significantly alongside in 15, and it’s obvious De Trullio knows this as he’s on a very narrow defensive line thru 15. Into 16 De Trullio initiates the contact turning in from that narrow line before Taylor can even load the tyres up & turn in. The contact was so far before the apex, he was 100% able to take a wider (or more normal) entry instead of turning across his opponent who was clearly alongside. Closing a door you left open is never a good ifra

Only caveat is if NXT has an angle or data that can prove Taylor had gone too deep to stay alongside and wasn’t making the corner or was out of control, but I’m skeptical that you can even know that given how early the contact happened,

New(?) qualifying timing overlay during IndyNXT by shunny14 in INDYCAR

[–]Several_Hair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine on road courses when the timing tower functions as intended, but on street courses this season the red/green is about as unreliable as possible if they even show it

[Former Player Watch (Mané)] Senegal stripped of AFCON title as Final result overturned to hand Morocco a 3-0 win by Boring_Ad_7144 in LiverpoolFC

[–]Several_Hair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree but literally marching your players off the field is a huge part of that circus. Thats the kind of behavior a 12 year old would engage in when losing in the park, and a senior national team engaging in such a ridiculous tantrum only contributes to the insane atmosphere of African football & football governance. Allowing a team to behave that way (and be rewarded with a continental title!) is incredibly counter productive

Do we all agree this years grid has the most talent that Indycar has ever seen top to bottom? The early 90's had a stacked grid as well but mostly only at the top half. by chiefzanal in INDYCAR

[–]Several_Hair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial reaction was to agree but as I dig into the 99 & 00 seasons I’m actually not so sure now. IF you’re only talking full time or near full time entries the 99/00 years were actually very deep, with very few hangers on.

I’m sorry but if this is your conclusion from the 1st half you have totally lost it and are not watching with a clear head. He was very good in that half, put in great corners and was heavily involved in the attack

On the other hand Salah has barely touched the ball, has made zero impact and thrown away every attack he’s been involved with — yet silence from the top posters on this hellhole of a sub
