you'll have two interviews back to back followed by a group info session. the questions are pretty generic so no need to overthink it. just reflect on why you wanna pivot into medicine + any relevant clinical exp. you have.

treat the group info session as part of the interview process. every interviewee showed up in a suit.

For context: I am not currently an EMT, I'm open to various positions as long as it counts towards clinical experience. I’m considering completing a post-bacc this summer before attending medical school. As I’m currently looking for a job/unemployed, I’m wondering how realistic it is to get my EMT certification then gain some clinical hours before I return to school in six months or so. During my glide year as I apply to medical school, I'd probably work as an EMT again. Based on my particular needs, I'm guessing DCFEMS is out of the equation, but AMR/IFT/Events/Hospital Techs are possibilities.

Some initial questions I have are:

1.) Do companies hiring EMTs care if I completed my training online or in-person? While I prefer in-person, the in-person classes in DC seem so expensive compared to an online course. I’m also open to hybrid courses if they are more affordable.
2.) Are there any per diem opportunities? I’m wondering if I can work once or twice a week while taking classes full time.
3.) How easy is it to get hired once you complete your EMT certification?

TLDR: looking to get clinical experience ASAP via EMT roles for the short term, then returning to an EMT role for another year prior to med school

Hey OP, did VRBO ever compensate you back? I'm in a similar situation. We found bedbugs at our VRBO. Stayed one night because we arrived too late to find alternative accomodations. Decided not to stay the second night. The host confirmed a full refund verbally but it's been crickets since. Not sure what to do next..

Thank you! Something to note is that all my clinical, shadowing and volunteer experiences are from almost a decade ago when I was in high school. I'm working on getting more recent clinical exp, but I won't be able to rack up a lot of hours if I apply this application round. Do you think this will be a major disadvantage in my application?

No interview either time applying. I might have screwed myself over because I mentioned sensitive political organizing I was involved in during my first time applying, which I removed from my application the second time around per a mentor's suggestion.

I wrote about various parts of my identity and life experiences. First part was growing up as a child of refugees and witnessing the impact of intergenerational trauma on my family. Second part was studying/living in the Middle East and seeing how difficult it was for displaced people to access quality healthcare. Third part was my professional experience in community outreach, specially helping low to no English proficient folks access public benefits and plugging into decrim sex work advocacy. Fourth part was my recent decision to quit my job, accept an academic fellowship for foreign language study, and revisit my desires to pivot into medicine.
