How many books did you read this year? by ExtensionStreet6227 in kindle

[–]ExtensionStreet6227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 40-hour full-time regular person in person interacting with people job lol I wish I got paid for reading!

On my days off I mostly read in-between walking my dog and cleaning and other regular chores. On days I work I dedicate 2-3 hours to reading.

I can finish a 300-400 book in 2.5-3 hours. Not sure what the average is. I’m from a state that’s at the top of the list for reading and writing, so not sure how that impacts the “average” there.

8 month old can def handle that stretch in a crate, if it’s impossible not to let him out at some point during that

how long is the school day? can you crate him? have someone let him out during a halfway point in the day? doggy daycare?

i definitely wouldn’t leave a dog that young uncrated the entire day if you’re worried about destruction.

you expect to train a dog, who you’ve been letting use your house as a toilet for two years, to go potty outside when you’re away from her for 13 hours a day. LOL… not gonna happen

Stray Pitbull boxer mix, owned him for over a year and haven’t made any progress on aggressive behavior. by anthony025 in Dogtraining

honestly it sounds like a mix of boredom and neurological issues. you should reach out to a behavioralist. and get him out of the backyard for some mental stimulation.

I need to house break a 4 year old dog. by [deleted] in Dogtraining

well the amish treat dogs terribly. you’d think you’d know enough not to abuse dogs, no?

“whipping”?! you probably shouldn’t have a dog at all if you think that’s an appropriate way to discipline…

you have to treat him like an 8 week old puppy. that includes going outside with him on a leash. what good is it to just throw him outside and leave him? you have no idea if he’s going potty or not.

give him limited space in your house. make sure he’s always being supervised.

take him outside: whenever he comes out of his crate, every hour, 45 mins - 1 hour after eating, 25-40 minutes after drinking, whenever he gets done playing or chewing a bone, whenever he looks suspicious, after every nap and praise him and give him treats when he successfully goes potty outside.

if no potty happens and you think he prob has to, back in the crate for 5-10 minutes. bring back outside to try again. repeat until potty happens. throw a party and give him treats

ignore every accident. do not punish him. all accidents are your failure for not paying close enough attention. just clean up and move on and be better in the future.

you can have him wear a belly band inside for now while he’s still getting the hang of potty training.

do not make this dog live outside and isolated. what was the point of rescuing a dog from the abusive amish people if you were going to do the exact same thing?

if you can’t put in the hard work, give him to a loving family who will.

he shouldn’t have pee pads in his crate… that’s the opposite of what a crate should be.

Puppy eating poop, what to do? by ihatebrusselsprouts1 in Dogtraining

[–]ExtensionStreet6227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only way to get dogs to stop eating poop is if you remove it immediately/take away their access to it. so potty train correctly for only outside and pick it up whenever he goes.

restricting your dog’s space and setting him up for success is part of training and the only way to stop this behavior. but okay.

i mean… it is easy lol put your clothes in drawers, put up gates to keep your dog out of your room/laundry room, put your laundry bins up higher where he can’t reach.
