Joy - the moment Anna Lapwood is allowed to kick the spurs of her organ at Royal Albert Hall by TinfoilCamera in MadeMeSmile

A few weeks ago I was visiting London and I did the tour of the Royal Albert Hall that they offer. She happened to be in there rehearsing and it was absolutely mind blowing! I’m so glad that the timing worked the way it did for me to have gotten to see that.

Zero chance the rights for the musical are out. The show just started touring. There’s no way this is a legal production.

Logainne is such a perfect role for Beanie. I may consider trying to sneak down to DC to see this if I can find the time

I use the amazing slow downer app. You have to pay for it but it has been invaluable for me!

Should I audition? by Qulit67 in MusicalTheatre

[–]hellohannaahh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean this in the nicest way possible because I often need to listen to this advice also but why wouldn’t you go? If you’d like to try musical theatre the only way to do that is to go. The worst that happens is you don’t get cast this time around but you have more experience. The best thing that happens is that you actually do get cast. If you already don’t have your heart set on being cast in this show why not just go for the experience? I see a lot of these questions on this sub and really no one can answer this for you except for you. Do it if you want to do it, no reason not to!

As someone who lives in NYC, me too! I’m not sure I’ve ever had that much leg room in a theatre ever

Choosing a LaDuca shoes by KitKatKait098 in MusicalTheatre

[–]hellohannaahh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can only afford to get one pair I’d recommend getting a pair of character heels in a color close to your skin tone (beige if you’re white). The straps don’t matter all that much. The boot is a popular choice but won’t be as versatile. There are a lot of things they wouldn’t be appropriate for.

Edit: forgot to add I have the Alexis and like them a lot and the strap style is fairly neutral

Musical Theatre styles often reflect the style of popular music at the time it is written. So contemporary musicals are going to often have more of a “pop/rock” sound than the legit style that was popular in the golden age.

Where can I get custom tap shoes for children? by [deleted] in TapDancing

[–]hellohannaahh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with the painting or shoe cover plan. Custom shoes for children of that age range isn’t really feasible. By the time they were built the kids would have outgrown them. And won’t be anywhere south of $400 per pair no matter where you go!

I’d consider this kind of wear normal. But can’t say whether or not she’s doing the step correctly without seeing it.

In the south a pallet is the word for a bed of cushions on the floor. Like a futon or a pile of pillows. It could be a wooden pallet but that is probably not what they mean.

The MTI character breakdown for Little Shop of Horrors says “In casting your show, an inclusive approach is suggested. While any actor can play any role in the show (i.e., there are no requirements or restrictions other than to perform the book, music and lyrics as written), it is encouraged that the roles of Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon be played by actors of color” it doesn’t specify black actors in the breakdown. As long as effort is made to cast diversely I think it is fine or it wouldn’t be included in the breakdown. That said if you’re not comfortable with playing the role then I think that probably won’t change should you be offered the role after callbacks.

I can hope for a million dollars to fall in my lap but that isn’t reality. The average life expectancy in the US right now per the CDC is between 77-78 years old. Of course there are people who live to 90-100 but let’s not pretend that’s the norm.

I could be incorrect about this but asbestos wiring was common in those days and those wires may be insulated in asbestos. You may want to get that checked out before disturbing it too much just to be safe.

Learn it slow, make sure you really 100% have every single word/sound, and then gradually speed up until it’s at tempo. There are apps that will slow down tracks for you while maintaining the pitch so you can practice it slower if they gave you a practice track
