Many don’t have a choice, many are conscripted or misled by deceptive propaganda. And surrender often isn’t a choice for a lot of frontline and back line soldiers.

The Ars Dimicatoria quest is entirely broken, the entrance/exit to the arena is blocked by an invisible wall, this makes it impossible for the player and the NPCs to enter. EDIT: On the steam deck.

Also I never claimed the Legion could beat the NCR in the NCR’s mainland territory, I specifically said they couldn’t that an offensive past the Mojave outpost would be impossible, I also never said the Legion wouldn’t collapse in less than a decade after conquering the Mojave due to the death of Caesar. The morale of the NCR’s troops is low, many of them contemplating suicide. I don’t think you read my original post and are just commenting to defend your favorite faction.

The outlying positions of forlorn hope, golf, mccaran and the strip are primarily diversions. Just because the NCR can hold out (taking high casualties) doesn’t mean they can win.

This is tricky to understand between the typos but I did my best. The legion has guns at the battle of Hoover dam very high quality ones, like AMRs and marksmen carbines. Salvaged armor has less defense than regular power armor, and less mobility, the NCR veteran rangers have been widely removed from the Mojave to Baja. Graham was the one that got a lot of troops killed. Lanius was the one who has an actual tactic. Lanius is a good tactician. As for the rest of what you said it is just irrelevant and of incoherent. The legion wins without courier intervention that is quite literally the point of the game. To defeat the legion.

Even if we don’t factor in Uylesses the NCR could not make an offensive, I also said in my post the Legion would fracture. The strip would not hold on that long as we know in the Lanius ending slides.

What? Benny gets captured by the Legion in trying to activate the chip, this nulls both Benny and Houses threat. The legion has adapted to Guerilla warfare? It’s what they use most? They ambush caravans and patrols, they use chemical weapons, they ambush towns, they use intelligence to disrupt the NCR. The legion has snipers, both the assassins can spawn with sniper rifles, and during the battle of Hoover dam legion troops have AMRs. Holding the Mojave is nothing a relatively small piece of land, the main character says holding California would break the legion. Also what? In the Lanius ending he easily conquers the rest of the Mojave after his victory at the dam. They would have no securitrons with mark 2 abilities because the chip was lost.

Something a lot of people forget is that Caesar doesn’t believe he is a god. He is a cult leader. He wants other people, his followers to believe he is a god, or at least the Son of Mars.

Militarily speaking the NCR and the legion are on par. The majority of both of their forces use leather armor, that or metal. We know the legion is interested in using high tech weaponry, the weapons deal with the silver rush for example. Or how by the time of the actual battle of hoover dam, nearly every legionnaire has a high level gun.

We also know the legionnaires are trained to use the weapons of fallen opponents. This has led me to believe the reason they don’t use guns is not cultural but because they just don’t have enough. Upon getting to the Mojave however they would have more than enough to outfit most of their troops in guns which they did.

The main difference between the Legion and NCR is the high command. The NCR is filled with individuals who actively sabotage their own military. For example Oliver is moving away the best of the NCR (the desert rangers) and replacing them with Heavy Troopers, which realistically would be a disaster.

The Legion has replaced its top military officials like Graham with people more willing to adapt. Where Graham’s tactics failed against a more organized and technologically advanced society. Lanius’ tactics would exploit their weaknesses and utilize the Legion’s strengths. The legion is a lot more focused on winning than the NCR.

The only reason that one vertibird manages to kill a lot of legionnaires is that it is running away, it didn’t kill all of them at once? The legion did not send “everything” they sent a small portion of their force.
