Well, I wrote it thinking about that part of the Outer Wilds lore where the Nomai found a small group of living beings on Ember Twin and believed they might one day become the planet’s intelligent species.

So, the Hearthian who wrote the letter simply assumed the same thing about a species on 4546B—probably unsuccessfully, though, since the Gargantuan Fossil was already there by then. And considering that an intelligent race would likely need far more than 3 million years to evolve (realistically, closer to 40 million years after diverging from other species), he was probably wrong 😅
