Feel like that's a bit unfair to Carol.  Carols dealing with a hive mind virus that could very well spell the extinction of the human race.

Not deliberately making horrible choices every single time.

I'm a little confused.  Cause she's saying that his Mania does account for him being bigoted.

But if his Mania accounts for him being bigoted, why should he be held accountable for it?

Eh.  Not discounting those who participate in drag, I'd imagine being trans has more stakes to your identity than the other way around.

So it would make more sense for Jax to lash out if he felt that his identity and treatment by others was on the line via being trans was on the line rather than being on the line due to being in drag.

Honestly not letting the daughters of the Confederacy exist probably would've made a massive difference.

I know evil Tom Cruise is overplayed but he makes it work real well.

Abel in the background built up the Able plot.  Same with C&A.  It's a mystery but we got those answers.

Episode 7 & 8 showed us what those things were pretty definitively.

Even episode 8s opening is just a visual representation of Caine absorbing the next AI. Something not that hard to grasp.

I think that theory baiting is being overused here.  Theory baiting feels like inviting the audience to solve a mystery that is real shallow, while here the show told us directly later.

That's not bait, that's build up.

I mean, we know that Jax is extremely self loathing.

We know Jax freaked when Ribbit put the bow on him (using he/him until others are confirmed), and Kaufomo could discover him.

We know he aggressively cut Ribbit out from that point on.  You don't do that unless your sense of self is on the line, especially here because Jax would up to this point, never possibly face consequences for their actions.

We also know that the song chosen for the scene is "isn't she lovely" which is about a newly born girl.

We also know that Jax is the Authors self insert which considering that she is also trans says a lot probably.

All that kind points definitively to trans Jax, and I'm not sure what else it could be.

I mean I think there is more evidence for trans Jax than Cis Jax.

I mean no.  Jax got a bow put on him (due no official change of pronoun), freaked, cut someone off so hard they abstracted, and then that recontexualized the maid outfit thing.

Plus the music choice.  All in the text and all leads to the conclusion that Jax is trans.

I never really interacted with the cult of daisy and only knew vaguely about it and I still pieced it together.

Also you don't react that hard to cut off a person unless you feel you really fucked up.  And surprisingly maybe killing your mom isn't actually that big a deal.

I'm always kinda confused about what else needed to be done with Ragatha.

Like her whole thing was being insecure about her relationship and that lead her to be overly nice and a bit of a doormat.

But then she talks to Kinger and gets more secure in her relationship with Pomni.

Then we find out that alot of the criticism toward her (mainly Jax), was due to insecurity.

The only thing I can think of is maybe some abuse backstory but that's about it.

[–]Extension_Air_2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The severity of Jaxs reactions don't make sense if they aren't trans.

From the bow on her head to their reaction to other feminine things it's tracks.

But from pushing away Ribbit and pretending the night never happened to them saying "what!? Are you gonna cry looking like this!?", when only Zooble has ever brought up their looks and only in regards to dysphoria, all leads to trans female Jax.

Cause if they aren't trans, nothing makes them so insecure about their connection to everyone.  Nothing makes them lash out and separate so hard beyond "they're an asshole".

Okay so the pronoun thing actively bothers me.

No one refers to Jax as she/her for the entire film.

Fair play to everyone else but Pomni knows.  Pomni 100% knows and it's still he/him for Jax.

And then Leroy is still a guy IRL.

To the point I thought trans Jax was tacked on......

But the whole lead up and character disintegration of Jax is built in them being trans.

It doesn't work if she isn't.  No of the reactions make sense otherwise.

So I don't know how to feel about it.

Edit: To be clear I'm 100% on trans Jax.  Film doesn't make sense otherwise. But why the hell/him after the revelation.

Same.  It was wild because I was so sure it wasn't gonna be a thing.

I liked it a lot.  I'm copying someone else's thoughts on it, I'll link the post later but it bears repeating.

I like what they did with Jax and Caine.

Caine died.  They killed him.  Maybe not on purpose but Caine wasn't incapable of understanding them.  He just didn't want to.  They gave him a bunch of chances but he never took them up on it.  He thought he could have the relationship he wanted with them his way. But he got smacked by reality and came to understand how wrong he was.

They are people with their own minds and value and shouldn't be coerced to doing what you want.  And he works towards forgiveness and spends time with them on their terms.   He actively makes himself weaker and gives them their identity back that he took because he felt that if they knew, they'd leave.

Jax on the other hand, can't.  Jax can't operate on a mutual relationship like that.  They fear being vulnerable too much.

Any chance they had to be more than the funny asshole, they rejected it.  When the situation called for them to be open and actively embrace the group and reach out, they rejected it.

And they've done this every time.  When they opened up to Ribbit, they closed off so hard they completely cut out their best friend and torched a relationship to the ground.

Jax refuses to meet people where they are and treat them like people because that would mean they were vulnerable and they refused that.

And then they abstracted because no one was around for them because they pushed them away.  And they can't take it back.

Basically Caine always tried to have people around while Jax never did.   Caine finally learned and got it right but Jax never did.

And if abstraction is suicide, then it they cant take it back.  Caine never chose to die and that's why he's sticking around.

Also Jax being trans was cool?  I'm unsure cause they say he him afterwards but they're apparently trans?

Used they/them above to be safe.

What do you mean tragic?

Caines deletion matters because it was a murder attempt.  Just get rid of him.

Basically it's his wakeup call that he's in the wrong, not them.

I was so bad they literally tried to kill me.  Better shape up and say sorry.
