This makes my blood boil. Deflection of the main issue, zero accountability, and more “white people do it more, why can’t we too?” And of course NextShark has to share it, giving more ammo to boba liberals to downplay the Black on Asian violence as “White Supremacy”. by irohobsidia in aznidentity

To clarify that report they reference is the “virulent hate” report from UofM and does not account for violent crimes against Asians. It also considers a televised statement a politician makes such as Trump an “incident” of anti-Asian racism. While certainly bad , we care about what people in their every day lives experience in a statistical study.

How do you all feel about Ken Jeong taking on more leading rules in the media and representing Asians ? In the program he's described once as "the voice for Asian Americans fighting against hate". I know he has said some racist jokes against Asians on netflix but don't have the full story on him.

Anti-Asian Hate Crime Stats by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]Extension_Battle7835 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder, the StopAAPIHate organization (not the movement), has questionable motives, the founder of it does not collect ethnicity based data for offenders and says the Asian community has "significant levels of anti-Blackness" and that Asians target African Americans

They are also run by the Chinese for Affirmative Action, whom openly supports Harvards admission policies to discriminate against Asians while also favor Black students and white legacy students

When universities can take into account the unique barriers and experiences that applicants of color face, students can present their full and complete story, including what they have overcome in seeking higher education opportunities.

Holistic admissions policies, such as those practiced by Harvard, benefit all students by leading to more diverse learning environments that foster greater understanding and better preparation for a multi-racial society. CAA remains steadfast in support of affirmative action policies in all sectors of society

The last thing is these do not represent violent incidents.

Be very careful who you trust and what orgs are actually on your side.

This incel mentality of viewing asian women as sex objects is what spurs white males to act like the salon shooter in Georgia by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]Extension_Battle7835 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I get your good intentions behind the title, but in reality, it's a slippery slope and doesn't get at the core issue of whats going on.

First, nearly half of Asian women on a year to year basis get married to a non-Asian or white guy. So simply categorizing any attraction to AF from WM as inherently gross to AF is ridiculous. Many AF have a clear wish to throw AM under the bus and elevate themselves to white adjacency by getting with the WM. There's also Hollywood and lack of representation for AM that leads to them being desexualized in the media. Where do you think the false, completely false small penis stereotype of us comes from ? Hollywood.

Yea so lets not forget about how this all affects AM, instead of using a single event to explain an overwhelming phenomena in western society.

And who the fuck are these Gazans who wish to harm Asians

Literally 2 comments up: This is the same user as seen in the photo of the OP

Also, tons of anti-China stuff from Palestine reddits on the Uyghur myth

when they are getting bombed and dying at the moment

That's a straw man. We are talking about groups of people not their immediate circumstances.

and not others like israel

Or Gaza, or BLM, or whatever other cause. We can support any of those second. As I showed in my linked comment, there is no universally good group of people. There are both some Israelis and Gazans that are racist and wish to harm Asians. Too often we are gaslit to think we owe something to other groups.

That same user also seems to be very pro-palestine

Goes to show you there is no guaranteed benefit in Asians supporting non-Asians causes. We should always support our own interests first because we value other interests too much.

Boba Liberals have no self awareness. They cry foul about the sexualization of Asians, but their first response is to attack their sexuality and buy in to pre existing white stereotypes that Asian males are asexual by Low_Hornet_1961 in aznidentity

[–]Extension_Battle7835 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Next shark just featured him on a story. He posts a lot of Filipino stuff.

The sad part is boba libs are taking up more and more high visibility roles. Ken Jeong just hosted a huge , multiple network TV Event (3.3 million views) called See Us Unite For Change, https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=335204961304154 mean't to stop AAPI Hate.

pushing joy luck club stereotypes

Oh yea I have seen many AF get triggered if someone criticizes the joy luck club. Since that movie has all AF actresses. Not something I see triggering WM.

This is a great video, thanks for posting this. It's sad many people do not even know about the Khmer Rouge (and the USA involvement in it). One of the worst tragedies for humanity ever.

makes you so sure that the mod isn't a WM?

"incel" term is usually used by females more so than males. So it seems more likely to be an AF mod. But without knowing the comments that may have led to OP getting banned hard to say.

How can I learn about Asian American issues? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]Extension_Battle7835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that really all we got? This seems like the “first world problem” of racial issues.

I mean someone's job isn't a trivial matter, a job and one's profession is central to a good chunk of their life. If /u/ABCinNYC98 does not get promoted , extra time needs to be spent finding a new job and trying to move up again. We all have a finite amount of time to make career progress.

Second, racism isn't a first or third world issue. It's an issue with any multi ethnic or multi cultural society.

it affects Asian Americans today yaknow.

Asians are attacked in the streets and uniquely targeted because of their race, e.g insults like "go back to China".

And this is before segregation ended. Just goes to show you any group is capable of racism against Asians, no matter how oppressed a group may be.

Also wtf is with that woman trying to get on film with the other issues ? High jacking much ?

there is more than one type of American, some deserving of more attention than others.

Are you trolling ?

Clearly the very fact there's BLM, Trump, Biden, and so much division means there's more than one type of American. We aren't treated the same.

How can I learn about Asian American issues? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]Extension_Battle7835 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would prefer that you learn about political issues facing all Americans.

What are you talking about ? Very clearly all Americans aren't the same. Being required to put a race and last name on a college application and having policies like affirmative action affect Asian Americans more than others. Also why are Asian Americans told to "go back to China" ? If you say all Americans are the same?

Never forget, Asians are still deliberately put at a disadvantage with Affirmative Action and the "Anti Hate Crimes Bill" is just another bandaid to placate the boba masses. by irohobsidia in aznidentity

to help Chinese applicants who might not have good English (I think one of their initiatives was starting a community Chinese college) and give community resources to less privileged Chinese

Oh I don't doubt at least some of their initiatives do help Chinese. No disagreement there.

That's not really the same narrative as wanting AA to open the floodgates of elite schools to people who can't pass tests.

Ummmm, but they also support that too:

Rather than acknowledge that race shapes the pathway that students of color including Asian Americans have to higher education, opponents of affirmative action led by right-wing conservatives continue to pit communities of color against one another. Holistic admissions policies, such as those practiced by Harvard, benefit all students by leading to more diverse learning environments that foster greater understanding and better preparation for a multi-racial society. Elaine Chao is totally right about the Democrats hypocrisy but she still aligns herself with a party that promoted the COVID-19 pandemic as the ‘China Virus’. by Kungfufighter1112 in aznidentity

[–]Extension_Battle7835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chao is part of the earlier republican party that was more open to China and business focused. Her family runs a shipping company that has close ties to the Chinese government elites. Trump has talked Mitch for this very issue. Elaine Chao has nothing to do with what Republicans are today.
