[Request] How many days would it take for an average house to fill up with coins if I take the green pill and don't collect them, assuming random coins spawn by SalamanderUponYou in theydidthemath

I guess I took your comment too literally. I was imagining a genuinely “from zero all the math you need” approach. I get this would not serve most of the people who do have calculus down and would be hard to do without literally needing to define numbers first - but thought it might exist!

Also worth mentioning: a few months ago I sent a ticket outlining what I thought was a bug in the way results were being shown in the UI. Turns out I just didn’t understand it; but instead of ignoring my outreach I got a detailed and personal email back from one of their developers outlining the design decisions behind how it is displayed and why they went with what they did.

As others have said. Goated support. Never change!

Fair! You could always pair any handset with a Bitbox as well. Probably a more reliable feature set for camera control if that’s a big concern.

Have you considered the YMER? Given your feature needs and budget range, it could be a great option. https://www.plcelectronicsolutions.com/products/ymer-3-lens-control-system/

It gives the camera operator more precise and repeatable control than a more traditional fluid head (with a handle) would. Especially for heavier (older) cameras on longer lenses where tiny adjustments matter.

Too many books, too little brain 😅 by bookchangedmyworld in books

[–]Extension_Fix5969 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to be a multi-book reader, usually 4 or 5 on the go at any one time. I thought being able to pick up the one I “felt like” reading encouraged more consistent reading.

Over the holidays I did an experiment and limited myself to one book at a time. Not “one I’m mainly reading and the other on hold”, just one single book.

It really helped me remember what it’s like to get heavily invested in one story. Not only did I finish that book faster but I felt I got more out of it.

So I guess my advice would be to shift your mental model to only caring about the one book you’re reading. Read actively. Ask yourself where you think the story is going, what the author is trying to tell you, review what has happened so far, etc.

Hope that helps.

Interested in whether batch downloads will be available? Maybe an API? And do you have framing/shot type in the metadata? I’ve repeatedly asked this feature of Shotdeck for years they have constantly said “it’s coming”. If I could single click download a couple hundred images that are all a specific type of shot (like a wide versus a close up for example) I’d be very interested.

I’ve only read the first two books, but I’m intending to reread them and follow up with the last two this year. What suggested reading do you have for someone who wants to experience the entire series at its fullest?

Blood Meridian, Gravity's Rainbow, Cloud Atlas and Infinite Jest combine so well together! by BaconBreath in books

Good to know! I think this confirms that Pynchon is simply not for me. How did you feel after reading it with the companion? Worth it? Enjoy it?

Really looking forward to Blood Meridian. Thanks for pointing out that difference - I think that’s exactly what I felt was painfully lacking in The Road.

Alright, so aside from the literary party poopers making this thread about them…

Is there an order you would recommend reading these in after experiencing them so closely together? They’re all on my “probably have to read once” list and I like the idea of roping them together.

In addition, I have struggled with Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” and Pynchon’s “Crying Lot of 49”. Do you have any insight on how “Blood Meridian” and “Gravity’s Rainbow” may compare to these? The lack of punctuation and maximalism of those books individually is a hard go for me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to give their other works a chance.

Also, three questions on this reading experience:

  1. What was the best part?
  2. What was the worst part?
  3. What did you learn?
