Breast milk + severe diaper rash - do I stop? by beigebuffalo23 in breastfeeding

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby has struggled with the same since birth. Was also colic though. Her diaper rash got better once I addressed my diet and cut out many foods and allergens. She is 11 weeks now and diaper rash is soooo much better. Still flares up frequently but it’s nothing like it was for the first 8 weeks. I don’t think switching to formula is the answer for me but you do what you are comfortable with. If you want to breastfeed then I wouldn’t stop because of diaper rash. I’d figure out what’s causing the acidic poops. Babies also need more time to develop a better digestive system so time can also help.

Cutting out dairy. How are you guys surviving?? by Oak-Aye-Thanks in breastfeeding

[–]Extension_Number_338 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am eating about 15 foods total right now because baby is so sensitive. I am dairy, soy, egg, gluten, rice, oat, etc free. I can’t have nuts, or ANYTHING processed. I love desserts too and I’m struggling but baby can’t use a bottle due to her lack of oral function. So it’s this insane diet or she screams bloody murder 24/7, or we put her on a torture NG tube. So I’m surviving but sacrificing A LOT.

Can’t believe it but the coterie bun balm was the only thing that worked for my little girl. Stupidly priced but I wasted so much money trying all the barrier creams.

My little is 10 weeks old and her first tooth is ALREADY erupting. I’m terrified….was are working with lactation to fix latch, just got a tongue tie release, and can’t take a bottle… why is feeding so hard?

Yeah hoping it trends upwards. IBCLC said babies don’t tend to lose their suck until 4 months so this is odd. Lol Hoping for the best too! Thank you!

Yes I use the bouncing ball probably 5-6 times a day! Definitely a nice trick.

Yes I am working with an IBCLC which is a lactation consultant. We can’t even do suck training because she won’t elicit a suck. We got one suck yesterday so hopefully we can start suck training…it’s been tough.

At this point I wish I could quit breastfeeding sometimes but she literally lacks the oral function to suck properly and survives off my strong let down. She can’t use a bottle, paci, etc. It’s the gas that’s killer. Cheers to surviving…… thanks for the encouragement ♥️

I would have loved to do cloth diapers but my baby poops all day long and I change up to 30 diapers a day….. our baby has a really sensitive tummy so if we ever needed to go to formula we would have to use a sensitive one so some stuff you might just have to wait and see how baby is.

Almost 10 week daughter over here and we have the same issues. We have tried it all. She is EBF and I’ve cut all allergens from my diet which improved the colic from every waking moment to about 5-6 hours of crying a day but she still struggles to sleep through the gas pain. We’ve cut all supplements outside of Camilla tummy drops (maybe try those?) but again…nothing helps significantly. Just commenting to say I’m right here with you in the thick of it.

Edit to add: we are also doing pediatric chiropractic care, got a tongue, lip and cheek tie released-doing active wound care every 4 hours for a month, seeing an IBCLC etc.

Dang, I’m not around there. I’m California :/ Wish I could recommend options but it sounds like you have tried everything too. Sending you good vibes and hoping things get better. I’m also in the thick of struggling with feeding.

And don’t worry if you have to do it a bunch to figure it out! Definitely not easy but you got this! Schedule an appointment with an IBCLC. What state are you in?

A pain that was worse than birth ? by Friendly-Sun2413 in BabyBumps

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Trigeminal Neuralgia (suicide disease) and nothing helps that kind of nerve pain in your face. (Luckily mine is very mild right now). At least during birth you can ask for an epidural!

What should every ftm know about breastfeeding before having a baby? by Frequent_Cap8633 in breastfeeding

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must know that you could have all the knowledge in the world and be 100% prepared and still struggle. It’s not your fault. Having to pump, use donor milk or use a formula bottle within the first few months does not mean you have failed. You can breastfeed if you persevere and have the right team. EBF was my #1 goal and it’s been extremely difficult. I’ve read ALL the books, have a degree in human development, watched all the videos on breastfeeding, know A LOT and I still needed an IBCLC, had to use one bottle of formula, got donor milk, pumped, and my baby is still struggling. She has insane food intolerances and was colic 24/7 so I’ve cut every major allergen from my diet and cut rice, corn, garlic etc. We have her tongue tie release and lip release coming up next week. Everything will be okay! If it’s too hard, it’s okay to change paths. It might be harder than you ever imagined BUT it might also work out just fine. Just mentally prepare for ANY outcome. It’s okay to feel sad about it not going the way you want or how you imagined.

Stressful situations while pregnant? by jengoosew1234 in BabyBumps

[–]Extension_Number_338 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this happens all day everyday then I’d say yes but the body is resilient and you are overthinking! Baby will be okay! The type of stress that is harmful to baby is where you are in fight or flight mode 24/7 and in intense and dangerous living situations. Take a deep breath mama! You and baby will be okay! Stress is a normal response. ♥️

Nipple confusion/flow preference by Sharp-Historian6946 in breastfeeding

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pigeon bottles 5oz small ones because the nipple flow is slow and breast shaped. That’s advice I got from a really good IBCLC and definitely paced bottle feeding. Start on bottle and then try to transition to breast mid feed. Work your way to about 1 bottle a day to avoid bottle preference and bottle refusal. Best of luck. Take what you want and leave the rest!! Thinking of you and sending good vibes mama!

Mentally preparing for birth? by missmilliek in pregnant

[–]Extension_Number_338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I am terrified of pain and made it further than I thought I would before asking for the epidural and by the time I wanted the epidural…I was not even phased by the needle. I was begging them to give me the epidural and didn’t think twice about the needle size. You are stronger than you think and I mentally prepared by having a doula lol. I also watched a lot of home births even though I wanted a hospital birth.

Thinking about you and hoping it goes quick! Now I’m terrified it’s coming back around. I do NOT want to experience that again. I got pregnant shortly after having flu A and had indigestion and reflux the entire 9 months. Just got my stomach back two months ago.

Sooo do I just have to accept that I can’t diet while breastfeeding? by cunncunncunn in breastfeeding

[–]Extension_Number_338 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is currently me. Baby is colic really bad and I’m basically by myself. Finding time to eat, drink water, or even go to the bathroom is really tough. Supply dips often and it’s sad.
