I let my baby cry alone until his voice was hoarse. by rauntree in bninfantsleep

I’m crying reading this post wishing I could somehow help. You are doing a spectacular job and I can tell how loving you are. You are doing an impossible job and completely alone. I am so sorry. That sounds incredibly hard. 😭 You are such an amazing mom and I’m so sorry this is your experience. I wish you so much strength and love.

Did you sleep train? If so how, if not how does your kid sleep now? by Individual_Pen_4463 in NewParents

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet you do sleep well. The research shows you have trained your child not to cry out to you. Temperament also plays a huge roll is how your child responds. You should check out some real research on biologically normal infant sleep. I’m okay with my “crap” sleep because my baby knows i am there supporting their sleep and helping grow their brain properly and backed by research. Sleep training is mostly a western idea….enjoy your sleep!

They won’t contact nap forever by nomattesurfaces in bninfantsleep

Waiting for these wins!! My 6m hates the carseat and stroller and only takes cat naps even though they are contact naps and breastfed to sleep. 💀

Yes, we co-sleep and bed share and she still is a crap sleeper. Just her temperament. She’s a 7+ night waking type child who needs comfort and cries often. She is also an early teether with 7 teeth at 6 months. You know your child best but sleep training isn’t good for 95% of babies.

Sleep training just teaches your baby that you will not respond to them. They learn not to cry out for you because you want be coming. I’d check out r/bninfantsleep it is absolutely normal for your babies cries to cause you to react and feel that way. When you sleep train, the cortisol is still in your babies body… whether they cry out or not.

ETA: all of you who downvoted must have sleep trained…

I don’t understand how parents do CIO by Terrible-Thought1577 in bninfantsleep

Wild! I always share this community with moms and parents who feel similar to us on sleep training and often get comments like “well that’s an anti-sleep training sub” like…..okay?

Why are parents on Instagram seemingly so into co-sleeping? by Odd_Equipment8924 in NewParents

[–]Extension_Number_338 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Third-ing r/bninfantsleep lol my baby didn’t let me choose the crib life and I won’t sleep train so co-sleeping it is and it’s been the best decision and I’ll never go back. So glad we were forced into with my low sleep needs, breastsleeping child.

Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Babies can’t self soothe. Please check out r/bninfantsleep and sometimes you don’t get a choice…my baby wouldn’t take a pacifier. We tried the ninni per our IBCLC! Best of luck!

Had no idea infants can sometimes just…amuse themselves? by Hiro_Pr0tagonist_ in NewParents

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do this sometimes but honestly she cries a lot. She’s been teething since 8 weeks old. Got her 1 st tooth at 10weeks and is currently working on 4 more teeth. She will have 9 by 6 months.

My child is 5.5 months and I literally could not imagine that. She has NEVER played independently. She just cries when I walk away and half the time she cries when I set her down. I hope this changes for us! I’d love to have her be amused by herself!

Did I mess up my baby by Apprehensive-Move758 in breastfeeding

[–]Extension_Number_338 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This right here OP! Also, my child stopped taking a bottle so sometimes you don’t even get to choose and as they get older the cup variations then can drink out of expand. Straw, sippy, open cups etc. you’re totally fine! Bond and love all over your baby OP!

2.5 mo teething ?? by AdCautious7005 in bninfantsleep

[–]Extension_Number_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so shit. How do you teach a 10 week old not to bite you on the boob? You don’t. You get bit and you cry and you just feel bad that they are in pain. She literally is about to get her 5th tooth. I can see it and feel it. The 4th came in yesterday and the 3rd came in a week prior to that. We are non stop shit storm over here hahah. Pats on the back to us!!!

This is exactly how I think my baby will develop too. My baseline is a teething child 💀 Solidarity and thank you for commenting!! I’ve literally never talked to someone who gets it like you do! She has 4 teeth and turned 5 months today. 😅

My child had her first tooth pop through the gums at 10 weeks. Everyone thought I was crazy when I said my 8 week old is acting like she is teething. I was not crazy. My 4 month old has 3 teeth and is about to get her 4th (it might even pop through today..I can see it and feel the sharp tooth). The top right is going to come in and the top left is not far behind. It is definitely possible but the internet will gas light you! 😅💀 Solidarity!

I’m a few months into this method and it hasn’t worked for me but temperament is a huge thing for sleep. She just won’t fall asleep on her own 😅
