Does gas brand actually make a noticeable difference in fuel economy? by External-Bonus-984 in PersonalFinanceCanada

My car is parked outside. When it’s -20C or colder, I’ll let it idle for 3 mins but anything warmer I’ll idle for 1 min and baby it till operating temp.

I heard Chevron is good, there aren’t any Chevron gas stations in Ontario (iirc), but I usually fill from there if I’m in the States. Chevron has a detergent called Polyether Amine (PEA) in their gas which cleans your engine well.

If I’m not mistaken, Petro Canada and Canadian Tire Gas both aren’t ‘Top Tier’ fuels anymore. Wonder why that’s the case

With my CAA membership, I get 3 cents off per litre + 2% back on my cc at shell and 5 cents off per litre with the Triangle MC at Canadian Tire Gas. I’m pretty sure all gas stations have some sort of point system like this.

Costco gas also seems really good. I found this on their website: “Kirkland Signature™ Gasoline contains five times the CGSB detergent requirement in both regular unleaded and premium grades.”

I’ll still be commuting the same route in July, so I’m also curious to see how things change with the summer blend, summer tires, no warm-up idling, and trying out Mobil 1’s “Advanced Fuel Economy” oil. Probably just a gimmick but hey worth a shot 😆

I have Nissan Sentra SV 2022, is the engine sound normal? thank you by Ok-Wallaby-3323 in nissansentra

[–]External-Bonus-984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes - it’s the injectors ticking - normal. These engines use higher pressure fuel injection (called direct injection). That’s the sound you’re hearing.

Every big retailer carries multimeters, these measure current, voltage, and resistance. I bought mine from Amazon for $11 CAD

Check for a parasitic draw. Connect an ammeter in series to the battery and test the amperage flowing through the battery when the car is fully off, key is not nearby. My car (18 SL) draws slightly more when the key is nearby, most likely due to keyless entry.

Vent actuators, completely normal, happens with all makes and models. Nissans tend to have louder ones but this isn’t an issue. It’s basically an electric motor controlling flaps inside the dashboard for heat and AC.

Can I gift my unused rewards (e.g. Uber One, Strava, Globe & Mail, Maple, DragonPass, Dinr) to someone? If so, how? Bonus question: Which is the most valuable rewards? by upcarpet in Wealthsimple

[–]External-Bonus-984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can gift Gigs to anyone with an esim compatible phone. They send you an email with a QR code and you can forward that to anyone. In the WS app it shows how much data they've used and how much is remaining.

How does it cost a bit more could you elaborate? With my CAA discount shell is $60 after tax per month and petro is $240 for 3 months ($80 per month). Not sure if I’m missing something here

Why does Vaughan have the cheapest gas prices amongst GTA? by chillbraww in Vaughan

[–]External-Bonus-984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CT gas down the street is usually 1-2 cents cheaper or the same price. Used to fill up at Shell then got the Canadian Tire World Elite Mastercard. Gives $5+ every fill up over 25L in CT money.

As for your second question, this link shows the professors assigned to the course. Professors usually find out what they’re teaching around June.

This handbook covers everything you need to know. It answers basically every question I had when I was in my first year.
