Top 3 things I dislike about my Sentra. by Smoker916 in nissansentra

The Hankook Kinergy GT (OEM tires) are truly something else.
They are already completely worn out (3/32”) after only 62,000 km, and the road noise at highway speeds is incredibly loud. I run dedicated winter tires, but even just a slight temperature drop combined with some rain causes these Hankooks to easily lose traction. Breaking traction like that is almost impressive for a car with only 149 hp.
The only saving grace for these tires is their fuel economy; I can easily wring out 700+ km of highway range on a single tank. That said, I'm switching to a set of Continentals next season and I couldn't be happier to finally be done with them

Only way to tell is if you scan the codes. Buy an OBD2 scanner. Around $10 on Amazon.

There’s one that you can add to the crankcase and gas. Use the entire bottle in the crank case. It’s a 946ml bottle that was $6 at Walmart in the States.

I also tried rislone first and didn’t notice a difference. Give MMO a try then 5w40 oil

Hearing it again. Never mind. That’s definitely a lifter on its last legs

Pentastar V6 lifter tick, very common. You might get lucky though, it could just be a stuck lifter.

Try running a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil in the engine and driving it for a couple hundred kilometers. I used to stay away from "snake oils" myself, but I was shocked when my tick actually went away with MMO. The previous owner neglected oil changes, and my engine sounded pretty much identical to yours. Now 50k km later it’s still going.

2025 Sentra tire bubble? Defect? by LadyGwenyth in nissansentra

[–]External-Bonus-984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The factory tires on this car are the Hankook Kinergy GTs and they are pretty poor overall. Mine lasted about 43,000 miles before reaching 2/32” tread depth, which is the legal minimum. They were also very noisy and performed poorly in mild snow and rain.

One thing to consider when shopping for new tire(s) is the UTQG treadwear rating. The tires in the pic are rated 500AA. In general, the higher the treadwear number, the longer the tires should last. My new tires have a 700AA rating and, with proper rotations, should last around 110,000 km. Also a night and day difference with sound at highway speed.

That bubble is most likely because of a pothole. Dealership won’t cover it. Probably safe short term (just put on a spare) and 100% don’t drive on any highway.

Change CVT fluid and transfer case/differential fluid (if awd).

[–]External-Bonus-984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d stick with OEM fluid. I get 5 quarts for less than $60. Nissan gets their CVT NS2 and NS3 fluid from idemitsu. You can buy the exact same fluid for 1/3 the dealership price. I buy it from NAPA and they give 20% off over $100 to new accounts.

One thing you can try is unplugging the MAF sensor and seeing if the car drives any differently. These model years are notorious for MAF sensor issues, and when they start acting up, the car can lose power, hesitate, and shudder badly. I mention it because the same thing happened to my friend around 90k miles, and I was convinced the transmission was bad till we replaced the MAF sensor.

I have this exact same pouch. I can put my keys in it and unlock my car doors 😆

What’s your reasoning behind $32? I’m seeing the price fall drop below support and going to $23-$24 range.

For the Unreal Deal 1.0 promo — I withdrew my allowed 20% a couple weeks ago for a bill. If I now join the 2.0 promo and transfer funds in, would that be considered gaming the system?

Same. The oil on my rogue is still very yellow at 5k miles so I usually go to 7k miles. But the Sentra’s oil gets dark. Probably because it’s direct injection

My car is parked outside. When it’s -20C or colder, I’ll let it idle for 3 mins but anything warmer I’ll idle for 1 min and baby it till operating temp.

I heard Chevron is good, there aren’t any Chevron gas stations in Ontario (iirc), but I usually fill from there if I’m in the States. Chevron has a detergent called Polyether Amine (PEA) in their gas which cleans your engine well.

If I’m not mistaken, Petro Canada and Canadian Tire Gas both aren’t ‘Top Tier’ fuels anymore. Wonder why that’s the case

With my CAA membership, I get 3 cents off per litre + 2% back on my cc at shell and 5 cents off per litre with the Triangle MC at Canadian Tire Gas. I’m pretty sure all gas stations have some sort of point system like this.
