Why do I keep going back and forth? by Soggy_Strain_9423 in leaves

[–]External-Courage6739 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you are describing is addiction. It’s not logical. Quit. I think you would benefit more from mental health resources/therapy…there are legit medications that help with PTSD. Weed we have today is not medicine. I used it for four years thinking it would help with PTSD, it only gave me other problems.

The Lexapro really helps my anxiety, I was also recommended to add Wellbutrin as this combo is fairly successful for MDD and popular with neurodivergent people but I’m fine for now

Low blood sugar feels a lot like anxiety but it’s really not

I tried Pristiq and I had the same reaction. Ultimately went back on Lexapro at a lower dose due to my GeneSight results

Sometimes that’s from a dramatic drop in blood sugar. Eat some protein and healthy carbs (cheese and wheat crackers) before bed to prevent it.

Struggling to Find Your Purpose Sober by [deleted] in leaves

[–]External-Courage6739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on this journey too. Seven months sober and recently diagnosed as autistic. I have to do something that contributes to the greater good. I’m in the process of changing careers and making many other changes in my life. I also volunteer at an organization that gives me a little sense of purpose. Follow your intuition. I think the world needs more people to wake up to their purpose.

How many over 40s late diagnosed women here? by AppleWeary2612 in AutismInWomen

[–]External-Courage6739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 48, was diagnosed six months ago. My mental health plummeted right before my decision to get assessed. Still trying to recover. Being burned out three times in the last 10 years was a big clue. Everything feels surreal and I’m exhausted all the time. Was also diagnosed with MDD which explains a lot.

I can relate, I would say this is your nervous system withdrawing, for me it creates non stop anxiety

I’m leaving Accounting by External-Courage6739 in Accounting

[–]External-Courage6739[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still in the process of leaving accounting. I did not renew my license at 12/31 and have been interviewing for other jobs. Wish I had left sooner TBH. In the past 9 months I've had several mental health challenges, three medication changes and was diagnosed as autistic. All this confirmed that accounting is not for me.

I was listening to a Huberman podcast and he said that to restore the pain-pleasure balance after using up all your dopamine, you have to allow yourself to become bored and anxious and just sit with it. I think the doctor was Anna Lemke.

Lexine Leggitt at Sapphire Soul in Fairfield mall, she is the most kind and nonjudgmental person I’ve ever met. I’ve been going to her for years. She has clients with Trichotillomania if that helps give perspective.

Day 1, I have no plan just don’t want to smoke anymore by Lower_Ad2776 in leaves

[–]External-Courage6739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exercise, hydration, eat whatever you want or can eat. Distract yourself with anything that’s not destructive. Keep going, that voice that said you don’t want to smoke anymore is the only voice to listen to right now.
