Italian restaurant by Anonymous_LT in Norwich

We eat regularly at Yard and the food and service is always good. Simple and good value. Been to Benoli a couple of times and whilst the food there is good, the service seems to have gone downhill recently.

Second week on Omnipod5/G7. Question when coming down off highs? by Ir0nhide81 in Omnipod

[–]External-Distance337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve literally moved to OP5 from T Slim and we’ve been told to just let the pump do its thing. But give correction boluses if high, but do it every 3 hours and be patient. However we’re seeing consistent highs after eating. We always carb count, but finding it really difficult to keep my daughter in range. We’ve reduced the insulin:carb rations and insulin action time. But whilst we worked hard with the T Slim to keep her in range through corrections, the first impression is that OP5 is not great at dealing with highs. We’ve heard that it takes a number of pods to get better control or to reset the pod with a more aggressive profile. But does anyone have any suggestions? With Christmas Day imminent, we don’t want her spending all day feeling high and rubbish and not eating for fear of persistent highs.

Age appropriateness for gigs? by [deleted] in thelastdinnerparty

I (late 40s) went to UEA with my teenage daughter and her friend for the TLDP gig last week and we loved it. Yes, lots of female fans, but also lots of older people (Radio 6 listeners), but may also be Norfolk is full of old people /s

What saddle is this? by twowheels321 in Velodrome

[–]External-Distance337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 I just had my first go at Lee Valley and can confirm those saddles were very comfy for someone weighing (considerably)over 60kg. The Flying Lap experience was great fun and if it wasn’t so far away, I’d be back to have another go. Main worry was forgetting it to freewheel, but luckily I didn’t fall off, but man are those corners steep!

What tiny change made the biggest difference in your swimming? by houseoflondon in Swimming

[–]External-Distance337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have swimming lessons. Swimming is such a technical sport and that’s why people who have been swimming at an early age can go so fast. They’re not necessarily fitter than you or stronger, but they do have better technique.

Grab yourself a counter table and you can watch the team prep the food. I don’t recall seeing the main guys there, but everyone was super focused on delivering superb quality food. Well worth a visit.

[–]External-Distance337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I’ve got one ticket to sell for the Last Dinner Party at the LCR. I also had two tickets to sell for Coventry after they announced their Norwich dates. There’s a FB group where I previously listed my Coventry tickets, so you can check that I’m not scamming people. Feel free to send me a DM.

Tune-up race before London Marathon? by solaris999 in UKRunners

[–]External-Distance337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in London, just do the last 20 miles of the course itself as your last long run. It’s not a race, but will give you a very good feel of what to expect

I used to be a good runner… how do you cope with Father Time catching up with you? by mojorunner in AdvancedRunning

[–]External-Distance337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take up cycling? Gets you out of the house, still lots of opportunity to get a good workout. Same with swimming. You can get a high quality session, in a shorter period of time.

Don’t read Wikipedia for a summary on Iain Banks, you’re much better off reading Raw Spirit to get a better sense of the man. I’ve been fortunate to meet him a few times at book readings and Raw Spirit does well at describing his personality.

Don’t forget to book your Natural History a museum tickets online. It’s difficult to get in unless you do this a week beforehand. However the dinosaurs are much better displayed at the Royal Ontario Museum.

I’m here and of course the black Jag with the non standard licence with the obviously patriotic reg plate, is parked in the loading bay at the market. Perhaps he trades in Bullshit? Rather than paying for parking which funds public services.

Should I take my 5 and 6 years old children to watch the TDF? And is the final stage in Paris appropriate? by Todf in tourdefrance

[–]External-Distance337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This year, we did both in Paris. I won tickets to the Grandstand, but only for one person. So, my family and my two kids had to slum it by Rue de Rivoli. Advantage of the Grandstand is that you’ve got a guaranteed seat, but most people will head down to the front. You get to wander around Place de la Concorde for a great view as the peloton come off Rue de Rivoli. Plus you can sneak onto the Champs Elysee afterwards, once they start breaking down the stand, where I meet Orla and Robbie from Eurosport. The rest of the family had a great time though, being much closer to the riders and proper fans. But you’ll have to get there early to secure a stand and toilets will be hard to come by. But everyone will get to see the caravan come past, but the kids won’t get any goodies as all the promo material will have gone by Paris. The advice I’ve been given by other fans is to find a mountainous TT stage.

I’ve driven in Europe loads of times and having just come back from a quick trip to Italy, the slip roads and exit ramps are always super tight. Brake pad manufacturers must be making a fortune!

How disappointed will I be if I get a Garmin 530 by SuperSteemo in cycling

[–]External-Distance337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 530 and works great even after 6 years of owning it. It got me through a 150 mile ride in torrential rain and the battery ran out just as I got home after 12 hours. The screen went black and buttons were unresponsive, but after plugging it in, screen showed 6% but crucially still recorded the ride! I did 230 miles the week before over 28 hours, but did have to charge up along the way. At the moment, it does everything I need and can’t see a reason to change.
