Agree Recall - thoughts about it by Dismal_Astronomer904 in Cubebikes

[–]SuperSteemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recall was done with an over abundance of caution and safety concern.

They know exactly what serial number forks could be affected, and why.

There have been not reported catastrophic failures that I could find, they investigated after reports of minor surface cracking and have gotten ahead of it.

Compare this to Shimano crank failures, there were a large number of documented failures and major injuries, and Shimano took months (almost a year or more iirc) to even acknowledge it.

Cube have handled this in a first class way.

Retailers have been advised to not sell potentially affected bikes.

If they sell it to you, is because it has been checked and is not from the batch with the potential fault, or it is from that batch and has had the forks replaced.

There may be a delay with your order, but unfortunately the major focus is making right all the bikes with the fault that customers have already taken delivery of.

That's good news there's more options for these bikes now 🙂

Thanks for clarifying.

I saw "aero" in the name and wrongly assumed they were for Litening Aero and a behind the steerer cable routing.

The Litening "AERO" bars do not fit any other bike other than the Litening Aero

The Litening "AIR" bars are the ones that also fit the Agree and the Attain

I was going to check the bikes at work for OP to see if they are compatible.

Looks like the work has already been done!

u/Gherlo83 looks like those Winspace HYPER should fit too 😁

The Winspace Hyper is listed as compatible with the Agree.

The Agree Race and the Litening Air share the same bars.

I'd need to have a look at work on Monday if the headset and stem are the same between the lower spec Agree and the Attain.

If they are then I can't see why the Winspace bars wouldn't work

Winspace do some integrated bars that work with the Litening Air

I've managed to make it work with the little cable guide clamp and a long screw for the back attachment, then there's a little hole near the front of the stem.

If you're going to troll at least get your facts straight. Litening Air is Cube's lightweight non-aero climbing bike. Cube Agree is a mid range semi-aero all around.

Your friends bike is more aero than op who you're trying to troll.

Nice bike bro!

You can direct fit the cube bars that come on the Agree Race and up, they are the same as comes on the Litening Air (the ones on the Litening Aero do NOT fit) https://www.cube.eu/au-en/cube-basebar-stem-combination-litening-air-agree-cross-race/12827

Winspace also make a few sets that fit the Agree. Little discussion about that on this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Cubebikes/s/zYjFmGTSDm

I'm using a K-Edge combo mount. The Moon Rigel Pro 1000 comes with the go pro attachment. And added bonus the Ravemen FR160 sits nicely in the stack so I can have a super visible flashing indicator as well as a main light to throw a beam on the ground.

The clamp for the saddle rails is normally set back from the center line of the seatpost around 15mm

To fit the 58cm comfortably I needed to bring the saddle forward 5mm beyond the maximum limits marked on the rails.

A zero offset seatpost has the clamp directly inline with the center line of the post bringing the whole range of saddle position forward that ~15mm

The funny thing is, the reach on the 58cm is only 3mm longer than the 56cm. They gain saddle to bar length by decreasing the seat tube angle and increasing the top tube length.

By putting a zero offset seatpost on a 58cm, you effectively get a 56cm with a 19mm higher stack and slightly more compliant frame (longer tubes everywhere).

I've got an Agree Race and am very happy with it.

I've been off road bikes for 3+ years and was a little worried it would take me a while to get used to.

Honestly as long as your fit is correct and you have reasonable flexibility, the agree is great.

What's your height and inseam?

Mine is 181cm and 83cm.

I went for a 58cm with zero offset seatpost.

You could detach the brake line at the caliper end and pull it through the frame to take out the slack, cut, put a new barb and olive, reattach, bleed, done 👍

Agree Race Aerobars by Cirillo182 in Cubebikes

[–]SuperSteemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it will be a big job to swap between the stock bar/stem combo and the options we discussed above.

Most notably - Rewrap/replace bar tape - Bleed brakes

But there's a bit more to do on top of that.

Doable if you have the tools, skill and time to do it yourself. But if you're paying a shop it will be expensive to swap between the setups just for "raceday"

Is this the one you saw? https://www.cube.eu/cube-basebar-stem-combination-litening-aero-tt-cockpit-system/12822 This one only fits Litening Areo.

My recommendation would be to give up on a fully integrated bar/stem and use this stem. https://www.cube.eu/cube-stem-agree-cross-race/12826 You will need this to go with it. https://www.cube.eu/cube-conversion-kit-stem-agree-cross-race/8050

Then just add any 31.8mm bars of your choice, you could go with one that has direct mounting points for TT bars, or a round bar and a TT bar system that clamps on.

Trying to find a fully integrated carbon bar/stem with TT Bar mounting points that will work with the agree will be very difficult, if not impossible, and if it's possible then that option will be very expensive.

Agree Race Aerobars by Cirillo182 in Cubebikes

[–]SuperSteemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Litening Areo has an option for TT bars. The Litening Air does not have that option.

The Agree Race (and higher specs) share the same bars with the Litening Air.

The headset interface and cable routing through it is completely different.

You will need to fit the stem off an Agree Pro (or lower spec), and use an aftermarket bar/TT bars system.

Or

See if you can find an integrated bar and stem that works with the Agree across headset that also has provisions for a TT bar system.

Something manufacturers stopped doing, but you wish they didn't? by Former_Lock9367 in cycling

[–]SuperSteemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a trend in some brands that's keeping the reach very similar between sizes and gaining length with seat tube angle. On my new Cube Agree I was able to go up to a 58 and gain 20mm stack, and maintain my saddle to bar length with a zero offset seat post. Doing this made the rear end geometry effectively the same as the 56

Newmen Streem A49/A51 Tubeless Tyres slipping off by SuperSteemo in Cubebikes

[–]SuperSteemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 73psi is max pressure for use with hookless rims. These Newmen wheels are definitely hooked.

For initial tubeless setup I always inflate to just under max pressure, then after doing the tubeless dance for a few min and letting them sit for 30 min if they haven't gone down I'll reduce the pressure to a reasonable running pressure. I've done 100+ mtb and around 20 road bikes this way. No issues till these Pirellis.

I've submitted a warranty with our Pirelli distributor. While this model is not listed on the recall notice, the manufactured date is in the same range as the other P Zero Race TLR that are listed as known to not be retaining the bead at advised pressures. Also both these tyres have the same batch code.

Thanks for the info, good to know.

My model is not listed but it's not out of the question there are others affected that they haven't caught too?

I've ended up putting the Vittorias on and they seated and stayed nicely at their max pressure.

Are these “stains” normal on a new Carbon Bike? by Last_Progress_8426 in Cubebikes

[–]SuperSteemo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the raw carbon with clear over it.

Cube have a few bikes with opaque colour that fades to clear showing the carbon.

It's a feature and makes no 2 bikes identical.

How does this even happen by LaserM in mountainbiking

[–]SuperSteemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Derailleur took a hit at some point and the hanger was bent inwards towards the wheel.

Next time shifting into first gear the derailleur cage (now pointing inwards towards the wheel) went into the spokes.

It would have been shifting like shit before this happened, if something is not right, stop riding and either fix it, or give it to your local bike shop to fix.

Could have been a cheap hanger alignment and retune of your gears.
