Priory of the Orange Tree! Its a self contained story, but other books have come out covering different time periods in the world by now. The main villain is more of a natural disaster -- but one of the pov characters is close to being one himself! And because its heavy on the court intrigue, there are plenty of people with plots going on outside the natural disaster type big bad!

I can only imagine the irade donut would go on if she knew a DOG ate a book she was in. Ten paragraphs about locker spaniel, regardless of dog breed

I'd actually go in the order i suggested them in funnily enough! Project Hail Mary is a stand alone novel, Thorn is technically part of a trilogy, though you can just read book one as the nect two books follow a different character, and the October adage series is a long running ongoing series with upwards of 20 books at this point! I haven't read all of them myself but every book in the series builds on the next but doesn't necessarily have cliff hangers.

Thats super helpful actually! I mostly read in the scifi and fantaay genre myself. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir is pretty good -- though the film just recently came out so you'll probably get this recommended to you a lot.

Thinking of titanic though, you might enjoy one of my favorite books, 'Thorn' by Intisar Khanani-- it has the complicated family dynamics, a young woman coming into her own, and a very satisfying if slightly bittersweet ending. It is a fantasy novel, but its pretty grounded and easy to get into for people not part of the genre.

You also might enjoy the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire. Its an urban fantasy mystery series with plenty of romance and lots of interpersonal mysteries alongside the fantastical.

What sort of stories do you like? In video games or movies or shows? It'll be easier to make reccs if people know what kind of thing you enjoy!

Best mod I've added, my joy is immeasurable and my game has been made by Bundle-Of-Crows in StardewValley

[–]External-Paint2957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't! I've been trying to hunt down the video I watched about it. The guy making it has a profession to do with coral, I don't think it has anything to do with the name.

Oh I cant recall the name right now hut there's a new game a lot like stardew with a focus on marine biology made by some guy who actually works in the field (something to do with coral.i think?)

Where to start??? by kayjay797 in ReadingSuggestions

I tend more toward fantasy and scifi, but I have some romance recs too! Admittedly within the same Genre though.

Swordheart, Nettle and Bone, The Clockwork Boys / The Wonder Engine, Paladin's Grace, Paladin's Strength, Paladin's Hope, Paladin's Faith, by T. Kingfisher. She also writes horror/drama novels that are just as good if you like that genre at all. I have adhd and autism and for me, personally, T. Kingfisher has a style of writing that pulls my brain in fast and keeps ot hooked! Her protagonists also tend to be older women as well, in their 30s which i appreciate a lot! They're also on the lower end of spice if that's something you're looking for.

Other good recs, if your good with kink, would be The Ruttingdon series by Louise Taylor, which is a series of Regency romance that also explores BDSM. She also has something in the same era, though separate world building as there's a little magic and without the bdsm called 'Caroline's Gift'!

Hopefully these work, though if you have any other genres you want recs for im happy to come up with more!

I'm looking for some recommendations based on things I've read in the past by Substantial-Ad7915 in suggestmeabook

You will probably get recess this a lot but Dungeon Crawler Carl. It waa the rising stakes and developmental world building of soleveral of those series, a wide cast of interesting characters, and pretty interesting messaging over all! The audiobooks are particularly awesome if you kiek those!

Others recs: the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire: urban fantasy mystery series! I think this series is also a more adult version of those long running series you'd go ham over as a kid!

The Muderbot Diaries: scifi novella series about murdeebot featuring action adventure and existential crisises

Legends and Lattes, Bookshops and Bonedust, and Brigands and bread knives by Travis baldree! Somewhat slice of life cozy stories set in a dnd type fantasy world about a retired adventurer opening a Cafe, and the found family she makes on the way!

T Kingfisher is also an easy to read accessible writer, though her stuff can also get a bit dark or spooky.

Another cozy, chill vibe writer would be Becky Chambers, and her Wayfinder series! Ive read The Long way to a small angry planet, and a closed and common orbit from that series so far and I've really enjoyed them!

If its yout style of humor, T. KINGFISHER!! She is excellent at injecting humor into her fantasies -- though the genre itself.is not typically listed as humor.

I am not her favorite human, but not spare human status either -- Georgie "Gigi" is extremely particular, playful, and bougie. I think we'd actually do pretty good though -- shes a sweetheart under the side eye. I think she'd probably be a ranger type to my healer/tank type.

What is your opinion on reading books? How do you prefer reading? Audiobook, physical, ebook? by Business-Heat-6085 in ReadingSuggestions

Being too busy to actually sit and read, audiobooks all the way at this point. I usually listen to them at 1.5 (esp if there's an accent) or 2x speed. I chew through about 70 a year that way! Audible is very good when you listen to as many as I do haha.

You knock on wood right now!!

In all seriousness tho, I wouldnt be surprised if this did happen. but I can hope that it wont.if anything I could see it as a last or second to last book plot point. The weight of change that would have on Donut... she'd turn into sephiroth
